Does anyone know the difference between the "old & outdated" GDE tune and the "new & updated" tune?
I purchased my tune in Nov. 2015 and have been extremely happy with it especially when I pulled the EGR tube out to exam after 30k miles and it was clean.
Just want to know if the update is worth it from anyone who went old to new. Its just the cost of the tune with shipping, I purchased a second ECM.
Thanks

Of course it is worth $50. FCA had 3 more releases after you purchased your tune. Many changes since then for drive ability, engine braking and high idle. The low end torque and response is a bit improved in the latest released tune. Not that what you have is bad, that is a 100 times better than those still running the factory tune...but constant development on the tune means improvements are always happening.

Okay guess I'll have to schedule a dealer visit then to update my stock ECM and shifter recall while you guys update my tune.

Any info on when that single turbo upgrade would be available?

Once my warranty is expired I'd love to do full dpf delete/race pipe and exhaust, intercooler, cold air intake, retune, and hopefully upgraded turbo or even the turbine wheels. I'd love to see this thing make 260-275/450-500 at the wheels and spool closer to 1800-2000 rpms.

Thanks

I went into the dealer today asking about the GDE update/tune for my diesel. Everyone looked at me like I was nuts. Can you please elaborate if the tune is from mopar and any other details I can share with the reps at my dealer? They all think I want some type of hot tune which will void my warranty. Thanks

Yes, the tune is from Green Diesel Engineering not MOPAR and will void your warranty if the dealership ever finds out.
If they know you tuned it and something breaks they have to prove that the tune caused the breakage. However you have the option to buy a second ECM and have it tuned and swap the ECM out for the stock one when bringing in for warranty work. That's what I did because I couldn't afford the down time while waiting for my ECM to be returned by GDE and if the dealer updates your tuned ECM then you would have to send back to GDE and have retuned for something like $100. So in a way the purchase of a second ECM was completely worth the $.
I 100% recommend the tune. Worth every penny.
Also I've had my Jeep tuned since 20k miles and now have 50k without a single issue.

Where did you get the 2nd ecm?

I ordered my GDE this past September. When did the new update come out? I emailed GDE without any response. Its a great product but their customer service can sometimes be lacking.

By the time FCA comes out with their retro fix for our 14-16 rides and I get it updated that is when I will do GDE. I am guessing that will take GDE a while to reconfigure algorithms to keep all the great benefits they provide.
I was thinking of waiting until my Max Car runs out but thinking now I will just get a 2nd ECU from GDE post FCA changes and have the ability to swap them back and forth....

I just got the hot tune with engine braking and regen message. I tow occasionally and like to save my brakes and like to know when I have to keep driving to complete a regen. I won't ever live where it's cold enough for the high idle.

I do plan on custom tuning once my Max Care runs out in 70k miles and I dump some $$$ into that suffocating diesel. Making it breath.

Thanks for the reply. I'm 99% sure it engaged today, definitely less intrusive then the old tune. Barely noticed it today except I keep at a constant 63mph down hill without touching my brakes.
Also you guys did a great job on the cruise control, the ACC works as it should have from the start. No more downshifting to 5th and taking off like a rocket when someone moves out of your way.

Installed the Hot Tune yesterday and I'm impressed! It's a night and day difference you can feel immediately. I've clocked over 35K on the odometer and know my Jeep's driving habits well. Love the new positive throttle response and the smoothness of the motor throughout the trans shifts. Between a new set of tires (Michelin LTX Defenders) and the GDE Hot Tune its feeling like a new vehicle. Looking forward to the future updates and products from GDE. Great job guys!

I also purchased the GDE tune after about 36k miles on my Overland and after installing the tune, I immediately noticed the tune just backing out of the driveway. Throttle response is so much better and even when the engine is cold, it gets going quicker without the huge amount of turbo lag it use to have. I can't say I get better fuel economy, but that's probably because I have my foot in it too much haha. I can tell it pulls harder and just drives better overall. It's well worth it in my opinion.

Installed my updated GDE tune today. Too soon to notice any improvements over the original. I did add the oil pressure sensor kit to the updated tune. Install was super easy and I'm really glad I went this route. Oil pressure is steadier and increases by single digits with RPM instead of jumping around in stock form.

I just like knowing exactly what it is, as oil pressure is so vital. I don't like relying on a computer calculation for pressure.

My buddy that builds parts for Eco Jeeps and Rams said the computer calculation was pretty damn accurate when he put a mechanical gauge next to the computer readout. So the option isn't for everyone.
