Get the Engine Block heater?

Hi everyone finalizing order tmrw for diesel jgc. I live the mid-atlantic and I'm wondering opinions on whether to get the engine block heater? We get a fair amount of snow and avg temps in winter in 30's.

Let me know!

Thx!

Everyone gets the engine block heater - it is built into the block of the CRD. The option just gives you a cable that is hooked up to the heater and is looped and tied under the hood. Supposedly, you should be able to have the dealer install one whenever you want it. I'm in the northeast and till now didn't have any need for it.

Re: Get the Engine Block heater?

It's the cheapest option on the Jeep. At $95, get it.

Get it.

It's easier to not-use it when it's there...than it is to go through the hassle of installing it if you *do* need it, and don't have it.

Don't people keep saying the cord is way too short as well?

Re: Get the Engine Block heater?

Normally I'm all over stuff like this but in this case I wouldn't be if I was in a warm climate. Its a plug in after the fact without any increased cost if you do end up moving to a cooler climate and want it later. I also dont see the lack affecting resale in terms of value or ease of sale. Anyone who has read up enough to know it could be optioned with one is likely to know he can get it over the counter cheap as well.

Where did you pick it up for that cheap? What's the part number for just the cable? if that's indeed all that's needed to add it after the fact. I didn't order mine with the heater.
