Going in for an early First Service, 7500 Km's

Taking 2015 Summit EcoDiesel in for it's first Service at 7500 KM's.

Figure best to change oil a little early. Jeep Service Manual says !2,000 KM's or 1 year.

A couple of little warranty items. rear hatch and trim alignment, spring in drivers seatback.

Wondering if there is anything else I should be sure to ask for when taking to service.

Check for a cracked air filter surround. The rubber/foam likes to detach a bit on certain engines. That's all I can think of, it's definitely early for an oil change in my opinion. Changing oil on the diesels at less than the recommended intervals is just wasting money, but if it makes ya feel better to each their own I suppose.

There is zero benefit to changing your oil early. Interval is a year or 10000 miles. Oil analysis from multiple people has consistently shown the oil could last until 12000 miles.

While their is no detrimental effect, you're honestly just blowing your money away. And if its one of the "free" oil changes you're just cheating yourself by doing it early.

In Australia they make us do it every 6 months, that is about 6,000 kms for me.

Running a turbo, I don't mind changing oil a bit early.....

Is Chrysler making you do it every 6 months or is your dealership making you? I've never heard of a modified time period unless your duty cycle is extreme (ie offloading or towing more than 50% of the time).

Re: Going in for an early First Service, 7500 Km's

Thanks, I took it a little early as it was the first service and the truck has an April '15 manufacture date. This truck sat on the lot for a bit and was idled to keep the battery charged. I also had a couple of small warranty claims, adjust tailgate and some trim. They did a good job and I hope to keep this one for a long time.
Your right about the cost as the bill came to $264.00 but now they don't want me in again for another 10KM's so in the long run I'm fine with that. Will check out the air filter surround. Truck runs great and I still can't believe the mileage I am getting. Love it.

Fiat Chrysler Australia specify it or else no warranty. They say Australia's harsh conditions make 6 month servicing necessary, though it's no harsher than the U.S. So it's really about money.
