Grand Cherokee Hitch Receiver - US and Export different part numbers ???

Can anyone confirm whether the US Trailer Hitch receiver ( part #82212180AC or AB) will fit a MY15 JGC Export Vechicle (Australia). Dealer here in Australia claims the Hitch Receiver for Australian models has a different part number (LA82210031). They can get me either, ironically the so called Australian version is more than $100 more expensive.

Is Jeep Australia replacing part numbers and putting a massive mark up on exactly the same part or are these Hitches genuinely not interchangeable ?

You need to be careful swapping out the parts. South of the equator the Coriolis effect is opposite that of the regions north of the equator. For example North American drains spin their water clockwise where your's should spin anti-clockwise. This affects a force on a trailer pulled behind a vehicle, especially when it travels from East to West or West to East. The effect is greater as the vehicle gets closer to the poles. The Canadians on this website can tell you all about this. In any case, using the receiver for a auto designed for the opposite hemisphere can be quite dangerous. I wouldn't do it! As far as why it costs more, that is plain old economics and not physics.

Yes, The above is attempt at humor. Not a word of truth in it, except the last sentence, which I stand by. No I haven't been drinking but the viagra has finally kicked in so I will be signing off for at least the next 4 hours.
