Yeah, after a little more testing I confirm mine acts similarly. It'll drop a little more speed with keeping the gear but after a point it will still downshift. What we need, is the GDE of transmission tuners to take care of tuning these ZF's

Agreed, but the GDE guys said the trans module is either built in or very difficult to access, I can't recall which. Maybe if/once the flash tool is available this can be a reality, because I hate the factory trans programming.

Re: green diesel engineering tune

Can anyone explain exactly what this feature (listed below) on the GDE website means?

"Disabled low voltage charging mode in order to properly drive electrical accessories in all conditions"

The TCM is a separate module. There was an article somewhere about a tuner in EU that had something ridiculous like 300bhp and also offered TCM tuning with it. Everything was very expensive so I didn't pay too much attention. Basically it was in the ballpark of 3k-4k euros for tuning the engine, tranny, and a full turbo back exhaust straight through. Good results but way too much money. Stuff like that costs a lot in EU anyway. Sorry for the off topic.

My GDE is still running great. I installed it around 100 miles on the ODO and have 3200 now with 4 regen cycles not counting the first one upon install. That's pretty good!

I also just checked my oil for the first time and it is not black like I expected it to be. Nothing like the Devils blood that comes out of my highly tuned 1.9L tdi. I'm quite impressed with the condition (color) of the oil.

My oil is always been jet black not long after any change. I'll see now after Hot Tune and first oil change after. Thanks for the info.

Re: green diesel engineering tune

I've had the Hot Tune in my Jeep for over 500 miles now and so far it's been great. If I could have a wish list for a future update from GDE (if it's even possible) would be to have the info screen show "Vehicle will Regen in ___Seconds." with a countdown. Along with a highlighted icon below that ready for you to push the enter key saying "Regen now" or you could push the right arrow to select a "Cancel" icon and press enter before the countdown was at zero. The reason I want this is I paid the extra $50.00 for regen messages and would like to "postpone" if I'm almost to my destination and the vehicle needs to regen. At next engine start the screen would still be up and the vehicle could regen at that time. This would be nice and should be on the vehicle from factory new. What do you guys think?

Nice idea, but that is a software change on the part of Bosch in the code. They would charge Chrysler at least 100k for a feature like that. It also could lead to issues in the field if regen was delayed too long. Most manufacturers prefer to keep the regen seemless and in the background as most diesel owners do not even know what the dpf is. Truck folks are a bit more astute with their rigs than a typcial pass car diesel owner.

Thanks for the fast reply. I keep forgetting I'm supposed to just push start and drive. It's sad that most of the world has no idea how a car runs, but they use one everyday.

A way to get it to do a stationary regeneration like the shop can with witech would be really nice. Then you don't have to go tooling around for 15 minutes when it tells you it's almost full.

Re: green diesel engineering tune

As much as the EPA is causing issues with modern gas and diesel cars - we are better off b/c of these restrictions (the gubermint is actually doing something for the better of our health). I remember being in Chicago in summer when I was a little kid (late 70s) and my mom making me hold a wet white cloth to breathe through when we were downtown - it was really foggy and hazy out. I remember pulling the cloth back and seeing the carbon and soot that would have been going into my lungs. I also lived in Seoul back in the 90s working for the Army and Korea didn't have an EPA to regulate emissions - it was just like that day in Chicago all those years ago. Upon coming back stateside I coughed up black gunk for a couple of days (we called the crud).

Now only if the OEMs could work with the EPA and the states to revise standards for diesels to make them run better and more reliably.

Re: green diesel engineering tune

Does this mean that the long anticipated flash programmer is now available for the WK2? The date of GDE's post is 7/17/15.

I doubt it works with our Ecodiesel. GDE was not confident in a programmer being available just a few weeks ago.
