I went with the AFE Pro Dry S; better efficiency than stock and more CFM, while not having the disadvantages of an oiled filter.

I'm getting 27mpg+ on my first two tanks with my AFE Pro Dry S, Stanadyne Performance Formula and Amsoil Cetane booster. And the driving has been spirited!

I remember pulling the cloth back and seeing the carbon and soot that would have been going into my lungs. I also lived in Seoul back in the 90s working for the Army and Korea didn't have an EPA to regulate emissions - it was just like that day in Chicago all those years ago. Upon coming back stateside I coughed up black gunk for a couple of days (we called the crud).

Now only if the OEMs could work with the EPA and the states to revise standards for diesels to make them run better and more reliably.
But EGR on diesels are not a viable solution - it's causing premature failure on our modern, expensive diesels, and especially so when combined with the average low-quality US spec diesel.

Re: green diesel engineering tune

After the initial exhaust regen after installing GDE tune my second regen came at 711 miles and took 14 miles clear. Also my mpg was 31.5 during this period. It was 25.5 before taking a 240 mile trip yesterday.

Wondering if anyone has done a pre and post oil analysis after the tune? I used to Blackstone.com for my Ford powerstroke, was inexpensive and informative.

Not to waive the GDE banner too high, but my money would be on longer lasting oil with GDE. Much less soot the oil has to deal with. I installed a GDE when the GC had a little over 100 miles on it, so no pre analysis, but I do plan on a 10k analysis.

this had been driving me NUTS for awhile, but I'd always used the gear shifter (tap back once) to start the process.

apparently there's a difference(on mine at least); using the paddles to lock it in 8th works perfectly for me but using the gear shifter or "sport" mode it does pretty much whatever it wants.

In fact I was able to stay in 8th gear down to around 40mph using ACC during some 1-lane construction on freeway. It chugged along at 1000rpm and still pulled just fine when the lanes opened again.

I haven't heard anything new. The ECU is very easy to swap so I'm not sure I want to pay an extra $250 for a tool that won't be used often.

Is 5150767AC the correct part number for the ECU on our MY14 and MY15 EcoDiesels?

Re: green diesel engineering tune

So what have most done.?
Just bought the tuned ECM and keep your stock for service needs?? ...or have you cored your stock ECM to GDE?

I'm trying to decide if it's worth the $1400.00+ to keep the stock ecm.
