Re: green diesel engineering tune

I pulled the trigger on a new cloned ECU today so I'm sure I'll have it by this weekend. I decided to add the turbo brake feature as I do tend to go through passes often enough. I'm most interested in the broadcasted fuel flow rate accuracy improvement and the increased pedal response.

I've always been a few mpg optimistic on the EVIC. Hopefully this gets it to within 1 mpg, we'll see!

Re: green diesel engineering tune

From full tank to tank it is dead accurate. But if you drive 300 miles and fill up it is optimistic.

Re: green diesel engineering tune

Hello, Does anyone with engine Braking feature have feedback?
I'm considering it, but am curious as to how well it slows the jeep and how useful it is? My understanding is that it works in 1-6 gear and only breaks from 2700 rpm+. My concern is that its not effective if under 2700 rpm as I generally am not in that high rpm range, especially for Inclement (snow) weather.

It works as advertised. $50 for a useful feature and I rather have it than wishing I had it down the line. Same with regen message.

They've designed it extremely well. If you want to use it, downshift to get above the RPM threshold. If you don't, then don't.

Downshifting Too far for engine braking in slippery conditions is asking for trouble though, with or without this feature. It's the kind of thing that could cause you to lose control. You'd be better off using the brakes. The electronic nannies can then insure no wheel will lock up causing loss of control.

Re: green diesel engineering tune

Updated GDE ECM arrived in the mail. I have an appt to get my TCM flashed on Monday so I'll keep my original GDE ECM in the Jeep till afterwards. I got a feeling they'll flash the ECM as well if they follow the TSB!

Re: green diesel engineering tune

Installed new ECM. Took it out for the maiden voyage DPF regen and then got a feel for the increased drivers torque request (snappier pedal map). It's subtle, but welcomed. I added the turbo brake feature just for the few times I go through mountain passes but found that I can actually use it in my commute on a long steep bridge I crest on my way to work.
Not sure I'd recommend the update to existing GDE customers as it's pretty subtle. However, I'll be keeping a close eye on the EVIC readings. My GDEr1 tune was consistently 3mpg optimistic. If this can get it to within 1mpg I'd be a happy camper.

Re: green diesel engineering tune

Has anyone pulled the trigger on the Offroad tune yet?

Looking for information on turbo back exhaust systems that would pair with the tune.

Basic info I've gathered thus far is:

-Flopro has a Ram pipe kit
-Banks-Monster 3" dpf back
-AFE-machfoce XP 2.5" dpf back

I think the Banks and AFE being dpf back kits are not useful with the OR tune.

Just want some feedback as well as to share what i've found out up to this point

Re: green diesel engineering tune

I sent an email to the sales department at Flo Pro asking about a delete pipe kit. The sales person said they didn't have formal plans to make such a kit. I've heard rumblings to the contrary. My email was about two weeks ago.....so YMMV. I'm sure they have to weigh risk versus benefit....as they might have to deal with EPA scrutiny.

Good Luck on your quest.....I think it might be very difficult to find a manufacturer that is making a delete kit for our GC's. Also....the Banks kit won't help you with deleting any of the emissions package...for offload purposes only .

Can you tell us a little more about how the new pedal map reacts overall? Does it perform alright in stop & go traffic along with open road driving?

Like everything GDE does, it's very subtle but I could tell it was there. Everything is smooth, and OE functional in all conditions. I jump back and forth between my Ecodiesel and the wife's Maxima and I usually snap my neck in the Maxima because the pedal is so touchy. In my opinion, the Ecodiesel had a ridiculously soft pedal stock, and GDE nudges it more towards the middle ground of pedal responsiveness.

Again, it's subtle. If you're already a GDE customer, I don't think I would recommend going through the hassle of an update if your main mission was to improve pedal response over what you already have. Then again, you could talk to GDE and ask them to ramp it up significantly and they could do some custom mapping for you I'm sure.
