Not yet. Still have it. Might even put it back on if it is not gone in a few weeks. What's the worse that could happen.

Re: Has anyone used Chip Express tuner?

I don't know. I might keep it and reinstall it if I were in your position. While I AM one of the guys in the bluespark thread questioning the integrity of those who would remove mods before taking a vehicle in for warranty work, you have essentially already done so.

With that being said up front, I'm with your diesel mechanic friend that if you leave it at stock/mild settings you're not likely to be doing unsustainable damage. Will it shorten the life of the engine/powertrain? Probably not appreciably, but that in part depends on how often you enjoy it.

The thing is, many manufacturers hold back a little in early years of a model generation so they can claim more horsepower/torque on later model years to sell newer "improved" vehicles to repeat customers. The easiest way to hold back some of that hp/tq is in the tune.

Odds are you're just fine with a mild tune. If you're worried about this voiding your warranty, it's too late anyway.

I was actually never worried about the warranty. I seriously doubt they could detect that I had a chip on the truck. What made me think about it is that I can have a bit of a heavy foot when I drive. I do miss the extra kick I used to have when the chip was on. Not to mention the turbo lag was gone. And as I said, if the chip does not sell in a few weeks, I'll just put it back on.

Re: Has anyone used Chip Express tuner?

Although I was ready to go for a tuning box, you are now making me sceptical. I was looking into Racechip who claim to have over 18years of experience.

Puzzled, what should I do?

In the end you should do what's gonna make you feel the most comfortable when driving your GC.

I can tell you it's a nice tweak for the engine. Makes driving the GC more fun, especially if you use sport mode. For me, after the chat with my friend, his "there is always a chance" statement was in he back of my mind more than it should while I was driving. It also did not help that I work with computers and I know that code can have glitches at any time. In the end I just wanted some peace of mind.

The GC is still awesome either ways!

I've had the BlueSpark since November and had no issues other than a CEL when I set it too high. The default settings are good but the higher settings are even better. My best 0-60 is 6.7 sec with power braking. That's better than the published times for the Hemi just to give an idea of the gains.

Operation is smooth with much less turbo lag although its impossible to eliminate despite claims as it must spool and takes time. Economy is the same when driven conservatively.

Shadow, I know its been a while, do you still have the Chip. If so I will buy it. FYI the same VM engine is used in the latest Maserati with something like 300hp output.

I saw the launch presentation from Maserati for the Ghibli Diesel, they had slides saying how the engine was exclusively designed for Maserati... etc. etc. Bunch of marketing crap, the only part they could explain that was different was the turbocharger. Looks like Maserati engines have a ball bearing turbocharger.

JGC turbos have a traditional journal bearing, ball bearing may last longer, spins up quicker.
