Home Depot has DEF 2.5 gal for $12.00

I was walking down the aisle and saw they are stocking some auto supplies now - oil, wax, wipers, batteries, etc.

I saw they had DEF for $11.97 which is better than Pep Boys and others that carry the same for $15.00. I don't have any real truck stops around me otherwise I would fill up cheap with the big boys but at least I saved a few bucks so just an FYI if you want some at a cheaper price than the car places.

I found 2.5 gallon bottles for $11.99 at NAPA. The other national chains sell it for around $15.

Re: Home Depot has DEF 2.5 gal for $12.00

Been reading up on the DEF issues with these WK2 ED. I did note that DEF has a shelf life depending on the temperature it is stored in (including inside the DEF tank in the ED). Hotter climates will have it degrade quicker (for instance in areas where temps are > 100 it can be as little as 3 months and for much colder climate indefinitely).

Also to add - speaking with the head service manager they noted that you need to use DEF that is API certified (API - ISO 22241 per owners manual). They said there is cheaper DEF on the market that may cause problems.

That's also mentioned on page 78 of the Manual (Diesel Supplement).

The manual has a spec for every fluid: low ash oil, 5% biodiesel mixed in the fuel,....probably even the windshield wiper fluid has a spec. Is this the most picky engine or what?
