Re: How much did you pay for your ecodiesel extended warranty?

I just checked their site, nothing has changed you still cannot get the lifetime coverage. If you didn't check diesel engine on the first page you will get the quote you got. If you did check diesel on the first page you will get max of 8 yr/ 120K mi.
I wish lifetime was available but unless I did something wrong it is still unchanged...

Unless I did something completely different, I followed the normal instructions. If you look at the jpeg, it clearly says Diesel YES. I couldn't get the 8 year option at all to come up...so what did I do wrong?

Re: How much did you pay for your ecodiesel extended warranty?

If you go to the site and check AWD/4WD and Diesel on the right side of the page it doesn't provide lifetime as an option (at least on this site)
CHRYSLER SERVICE CONTRACTS: Extended Warranties from Chrysler. SAVE 60%! Quick Quotes. Buy Online.
which is what I am guessing you used?
Here is what I did, tell me if you did something different because I would LOVE to get the lifetime
First page
clicked on quick quote Chrysler Dodge Jeep
pick 2014
pick Jeep
hit continue

2nd page
Select model JGC5
Current odo reading I just put 4
5 lines or so down where it says
Please select if this vehicle has AWD/4X4 Diesel (check both)
Next line
If this vehicle has....select yes
Is this vehicle within 12 mo....select yes
Specialty Class...none

Coverage details
From its org war....select 7 because that is the longest duration showing
Select preferred deductible....$100
How many miles per year...I used 12001 to 15000
Then select get quote

Max Care comes up with this as the longest duration
8 120,000 WM8120N $2,000.00

If you used a different site that allows US diesel models to get Lifetime please share. Canada can get Lifetime but for much bigger bucks.

Re: How much did you pay for your ecodiesel extended warranty?

Started Here: CHRYSLER SERVICE CONTRACTS: Extended Warranties from Chrysler. SAVE 60%! Quick Quotes. Buy Online.

Input 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Current Odometer = 10 miles

Select 7/100 option
Select AWD and Diesel
Select YES for first radio button (within 4 years)
Select YES (does not default to YES) for within 12 months of certification date (I don't know exactly what this pertains to, but it lets me do it).
Select NONE for specialty class

Coverage Details: LIFETIME is an option! Select it in the drop-down
Preferred Deductible: Only choice is $100
Miles: I selected 0-12000

Voila! Unlimited on a Diesel for $2280. At least it's a quote...

You are wrong. You are selecting 7/100 as your CURRENT WARRANTY. You do not have a OEM 7/100. You need to choose the "5/100 Powertrain Warranty and 3/36 Factory Warranty" and then you'll see that the lifetime option will be gone.

There it is! I am wrong. Great catch. Their system shouldn't have let me do that - so I all have to do is to get the dealer to certify it and I'm good to go, eh?

Why shouldn't their system let you do it? You are declaring specific current coverage on your vehicle. Service contracts are like insurance from risk management POV. You bet that the vehicle will break during coverage, and Mopar bets the vehicle won't. By bringing a 7/100 current warranty to the formula you substantially reduce their liability and they are willing to give you lifetime.

Re: How much did you pay for your ecodiesel extended warranty?

I'm wondering if I am buying from Chrysler or from a dealer when I purchase it? If its from the former I'm betting it will be taxed (sales) whereas if its from the latter I could simply purchase from an out of state dealer and save the tax. Being as its close to 9% in my area this a few pennies.

I guess this means you can get a lifetime warranty on the CRD, but is going to cost you $3905. $1625 for a 7/100K w/$100 deductible and then $2280 to extend it to lifetime with a $100 deductible.

My CRD is traveling the rails to MN right now. Estimated delivery is 12/27. I spoke with the finance guy over the phone and told him I could get a 5 year/100K from Ziegler for $1350. He goes, we'll in my system I just have one price and $1350 is a lot less then I think I can do. He puts me on hold for 2-3 minutes and comes back and says " Yep, we can do that."

I put on 26K miles per year and want a "warranty" to carry me through while I have it financed. Much rather have had a 5Y/125K or a 6Y/150K but I just couldn't find anything out there with that type of mileage. I think it's the diesel.

I want to thank everyone who posted on this thread and for that matter all of Jeep Garage, a little time on here has saved me a ton of money!!

Re: How much did you pay for your ecodiesel extended warranty?

I just got my Zeigler 8 year / 120k mile packet in, already thinking about cancelling it.

It is a 18 page document that lists about a thousand reasons why they wouldn't pay for the repairs.

Some key warning flags for me:

What exactly defines "severe off road use" for a jeep?
What exactly defines "vehicles altered or converted from original manufacturers specifications"
no mopar performance parts are covered
Including your deductible, you pay the tax on the entire repair bill
You have to pay the entire repair bill, then mail all the paperwork in and "hope" they approve it and send you a check
The wheel and tire protection of my plan will not reimburse when driving on Any "unmarked roads"
You only have 60 days to decide if you want to cancel
You must call first before any work is done or will be denied reimbursement
Authorized repairs are REMANUFACTURED parts only, not new
We reserve the right to inspect, investigate and demand proof of maintenance before repairs begin and demand receipts to avoid any misunderstanding or we may deny your claim.
All exterior is excluded, no rust coverage at all, all weatherstripping, glass, plastics, wheels, leaks, about a list of 100 things, then another list of about 20 interior things.

this reads like a "gotcha" contract like no other. So many vaguenesses and generalities, you use your jeep what it's Designed for and they could deny a claim without giving it a second thought.

Anyone know if the magnuson moss act applies to extended service contracts or just basic vehicle Warranties? If not, say your German. Zf transmission failed, they could go, look you have a front skid plate (which would have nothing to do with a transmission failure) and deny your claim. With my modified jgc I think I am throwing money away on this contract.
