Unhappy How to turn off Radio HELP!

Well I have a question. I just received my Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel. I have the 8.4 U-connect. My issue is, I can't figure out how to turn the radio off while we are driving. Once I select the radio tower and select my station, that's easy. But I can't figure out how to turn it off. I can mute it, but it's still on. I can turn the volume down to zero but it's still on. I can select another option like Nav and the radio is still on. I know once I stop and open the door it will go off. But there must be a way to turn it off while driving. Can't find anything in the user manual.
HELP!

Re: How to turn off Radio HELP!

You've already found it - just mute it. There is no "off" because it's not just a radio.

If it bothers you to have it running in the background, simply select an input device that isn't hooked up (iPod, etc). Otherwise, mute it, and set the display for Nav or HVAC.

HELP!
There isn't. Why would you need one? The radio is a small subsystem of Uconnect and most of it is needed to be on at all times. This includes the audio subsystem that is driving important sound bites to provide the driver with warnings etc... So there is no practical reason to turn off that little circuit

Re: How to turn off Radio HELP!

On my 2015, muting it only works until another off/on cycle, then the radio is audible again. The only way I've found is to simply turn it all the way down.

Now, if you listen carefully, you can still barely hear the music/voices when the engine is off, but it isn't generally a problem since I never drive with the engine off.

I'm with you though, I'd like to turn it off, too. The screen always defaults to the radio when I turn on the vehicle, which is a minor annoyance. I always switch it over to the phone or nav screens since those are less annoying to me.

Re: How to turn off Radio HELP!

The trick that has been posted in a appox 80 other similar threads is to have a blank USB stick inserted. The system will go to that first (according to feedback, I have never done it) but with no content it can’t do anything.
