I Pulled The Trigger

Well, after lurking for a long time (before the diesels even started shipping!), seeing all the horror stories from some of the early buyers and the great reviews from the first SFU recipients, I have decided to join the club! I gave Nader 500 of my hard earned dollars this afternoon as a deposit on a Limited Diesel with Lux II and ORA II. True Blue/Black.

The wait begins!

Now then, no more negative reports please...don't want buyers remorse before I even have the truck!

Re: I Pulled The Trigger

I am going to be over 5K in the truck and so far only minor stuff that really are not flaws but caused by our countries demand to squeeze more mileage and cleaner emissions before the technology catches up. My biggest problem is the XM radio antenna is awful. Kind of reminds me of the old AM days where interference was pretty common. Seems like the more it bothers me the more it cuts out. The last few days I had long pauses while out on the highway several times.

Play devils advocate and think about getting another model SUV. You can look at them all but none of them stacks ups especially when you look at what you get for what you pay. Hold off on the buyers remorse until after you buy it and my bet is that it will never set in.

Nice color. Has to be a Diesel. Congratulations! No ATG?

Yeah, I had my tongue in my cheek. :-) I'm not all that worried. I did look at a lot of other vehicles, but like someone said in one of the other threads, nothing "spoke to me" like the Jeep did. I couldn't find anything I liked nearly as well. I've never owned a Jeep before, never considered owning a Jeep before. I've been all foreign cars except for a brief stint with a Chrysler minivan. Currently own a Subaru Impreza wagon (great AWD, but very simple and way too small now) and my wife drives a Prius (which is great, but not if you hunt as I do). This guy will replace the Subaru.

Believe it or not, the new Cherokee got me looking at Jeeps, I didn't mind the looks of it, loved the tech, but was disappointed in its size. I then realized the JGC had most of the tech, but was significantly larger, though NOT significantly more $$$. Started researching and here I am. Slightly worried about it's long-term reliability, but I see the later builds have been significantly better. We'll see, I'm expecting this thing to be around for at least 10 years, even if the repair bills are a little higher than what I'm used to, at least I'll have a car I actually enjoy instead of another plain ol' boring Toyota, Honda or Subaru.

I wanted the Advanced Tech package, my wife didn't like the price and I was already stretching the budget to get the CRD. So it came down to a gasser with ATG or Diesel w/o it. I chose Diesel!

As long as you get your Jeep and YOU have nothing negative to report ... all is good with the world.

Congratulations!

I hear you. I ordered an Overland about a month ago and it is supposed to be delivered on 3/31. I love reading the posts on this site, but I cringe a little bit when I read the problem reports! It is good to know what to look out for though. What I have gathered from this site is that the Diesel JGC is a great ride with a lot of really nice features but with a few issues that still need to be worked out.
