Funny you mentioned this. On Monday, I got the flash for TSB 1801814c. I asked the Tech for the instructions for replacing the DEF injector and DEF hose. Attached is a PDF from the scanned pages he printed for me. The first page is DEF injector removal. The second page is the DEF hose removal. The next eleven pages are how to operate the various fittings for hoses on the vehicle. The DEF injector uses the VOSS connector which is shown on the last three pages.

Re: Incorrect DEF - See dealer

Since my issue involved DEF pump failure, does anyone know if the pump makes a sound at ignition on or shutdown? Perhaps I did have a mechanical symptom and didn't know to listen for it.

Incorrect DEF - See dealer

This is crazy. I'd make sure that they applied the right software. The dealer probably did, but I wouldn't take what the service advisor says as gospel. I had my dealer tell me once that they had done the update only to have the check engine light come on a while later. When I came back, I took the TSB with me, told them to ignore what their records said, and make sure that the software in Rev. C was applied just to make sure. Haven't seen the check engine light since, and I have over 1000 miles since the last fault codes were cleared at the dealer. If you know the exact fault code, and it appears you do, then you must have a scanner. Tell the dealer you know what fault code is tripping the light and show him where that code appears in the July TSB. I'm getting a little sick of old school dealers who think every problem is mechanical when modern vehicles are essentially rolling computers.

Yep. That's what I was told anyways. The only things left are CAT, NOx sensors, and DEF lines...maybe the tank. I will make the tech confirm the TSB 18-018 Rev C is applied.

I'm an automation engineer and firmly believe nearly any problem can be solved when all the parameters are understood. Getting Chrysler to correct their code in a timely manner is the only factor that bothers me. I will be in contact with Chrysler tomorrow to "apply pressure".

Sort of scary considering I'm seemingly in the same boat. My P20EE code turned into the 'Service DEF' before you are SOL!!! The vehicle is at back the dealer waiting for an EGR valve which was ordered ~2 months ago. Not sure what that has to do with the DEF issue - maybe it does?!?!? They said it will be September 9th before the part arrives and my GC is inoperable till then. So far all they have done is software updates and replace the DEF pump.

Check to.see if they have done a DEF flow test. When the pump fails, it can allow DEF chrystals to form in the injector and possibly the DEF line. Mine was clogged.
