Re: Incorrect DEF - See dealer

Update:

500+ miles error free.

Original issue: P20EE and other codes eventually leading to an EVIC message "Incorrect DEF - See dealer" and later, the dreaded "Will not restart in 200 miles" countdown which sent me to the dealer.

Work performed:

1. Added DEF in an attempt to refresh the quality of DEF when I got the "Incorrect DEF - See dealer"

Result: no change. The "won't restart" message came next.

2. Dealer fiasco with brake booster recall...2 month wait for brake booster before DEF issues addressed.

3. ----》DEF pump replaced.

ALL TSBs applied. Engine management TSB for eroneous codes might potentially fix the P20EE.

Result: P20EE and CEL/MIL returns within 90 miles. No more "Won't restart" messages...bad DEF pump was possibly the cause.

3. DEF injector found to be obstructed but not 100% blocked with chrystalization. Replaced infector. DEF flow test performed, passed. SCR system reset, instructed to drive nonstop at 50-60 mph for 1 hour to recalibrate

Result: P20EE and CEL/MIL returns within 170 miles.

4. Drain DEF, Rinse Tank, lines, etc. Add new DEF.

----》Replaced Catilytic Converter.

Result: FIXED.

My guess is that the DEF pump failed. Low DEF flow caused the injector to clog with chrystalization. (DEF disolves the chystals). The CAT failed for unknown reasons....possibly before the DEF pump. I was getting a P20EE well before the "Incorrect DEF" and "won't restart" messages. Not sure they are related.

This is good to hear, hoping the software updates and new hardware put an end to your issues for good!

Your guys tolerance for dealing with a shit product that was rushed to the market without testing is high.

I think the engine, tranny and jeep itself are great,

It's the added EPA shit that ruined it!

It's the programming. That's why we need you to tune out the glitches. There's a market for it.

It can't stay running properly long enough to get anywhere on it... Trying to tune a truck with issues is a damn nightmare.

Re: Incorrect DEF - See dealer

The price for being an early adopter is often dealing with issues that come up in a new product. That's why I got the lifetime warranty. I often find myself in that situation and for the most part am glad I'm part of the process and generally in the long run it ends up with a better product. I had my catalytic converter replaced at 10,000 miles. Took two weeks to get the part. A nuisance for sure, but not unexpected when on the bleeding edge. It was covered under warranty, the dealer provided a free loaner, and it cost me zero $.

If you have constructive and helpful comments, even if negative, they are welcome. If the main reason people are on this forum is to trash the product using four letter words, you are encouraged to find another forum.
