Re: Incorrect DEF - See dealer

Update: 1100 miles and no P20EE codes! The tranny TSB has also stopped all shuddering so far.

Jeep Customer Care has been very diligent in staying in contact with me, calling me 2-3 times a week. I am back to being happy with my Jeep.

I purchased the Blue DEF with an 11 digit ISO date stamp as follows:

The number on the box was 11152440637

This is my understanding of how to read the code:

[ 1-2 ] Manufacturing Facility (i.e. 11)
[ 3-4 ] Year Manufactured+1 (i.e. 15 -1 = 2014)
[ 5-7 ] Days left in year (i.e. 244 or (i.e. May 1st, 2014)
[ 8-11 ] Batch code (i.e. 0637)

I had to go to the back of the shelf at walmart to find the 2015 year. The DEF in the front had a 2014 code indicating it was manufactured in 2013.
New to the Forum. Waiting on delivery of a 2015 GC Overland Ecodiesel.

I took this post and created a spreadsheet in Excel that allows you to plug in the DEF code. The DEF manufacture code is automatically deciphered and the values show in cells much like the table above.

I run an Android phone. I downloaded Google Sheets and uploaded the spreadsheet to Dropbox. I then opened it with Google Sheets. It works fine.

I could see adding another formula to the sheet to calculate how many days old the DEF is based on the code.

I wanted to have this on my phone so I can plug in codes and let the phone tell me how old the DEF is.

Is this useful to anyone, or am I just trying to find things to do waiting on 2015 diesel production to start? I can share this somewhere but don't know how things like this are done on the Forum.

This is simple enough to put into an app for an Android or Apple product. I've never tried to do so but could see where it could be useful for folks who are math-challenged.

Any takers?

LOL! I am normally a very dry, direct, and sometimes rude consumer. Ask my wife...

This time, I decided to just be patient, friendly, and let whatever happen, happen. I told Jeep what I expected, that I would have to take action if necessary, and how I was affected and disappointed by my situation, and that I would like them to work with my dealer to either fix or replace my vehicle. They made it right. I don't think being forceful or ugly would have resulted in a better outcome.

Congratulations are in order so far.

Mine is still in the shop; over 30 days at this point. Unfortunately I have to keep calling [weekly] to find out what is going on with my jeep. Jeep engineering is now involved with the repair according to the dealer and no prognosis to date????

I now have a copy of the Texas lemon law pamphlet and am beginning to create a letter to the manufacture.

I really love the vehicle, but this is ridiculous!!!

You need to call Jeep Customer Care and establish a case#. Get the Star case# from your dealer if they have created one. Give the rep the complete history and tell them you want to keep the vehicle but can't if it isn't fixed and proven reliable afterwards.

I could see how this app would be useful. If you build one and is downloadable (droid), I'll use it. (great idea: skittles DEF-date app.)

Any date on your '15 production?

Good luck

Re: Incorrect DEF - See dealer

Hello guys/gals, First post, first Jeep product. After life treating us right for a few years now, we thought we were buying my wife her "dream" vehicle, a 2014 (Apr 2014 build date) GC Overland 4x4 ecodiesel. We've been a Toyota and Dodge/Ram family for life (I'm 43 y/o) and have literally only had 2 vehicles into a shop for a repair, (admittedly bought new vehicles more often than most but did trade my paid for 2007 Tundra 135k miles for this JGC), and we love the vehicle so far.

I am literally scared about the future durability/longevity of this engine/vehicle based on the entirety of the posts on this forum, we only have 1800 miles and so far no issues .

I know vehicles have issues, but can someone please tell me that there are Jeep GC's out there trouble free, with a positive chance to be so for years?

This is supposed to be one of those proud husband moments where I took care of the wife with a major purchase, but I'm more nervous now about this vehicle than at any point in my life. I hope I'm overreacting due to the amount of money spent and someone here can talk me off the cliff. Thanks for any positive comments.

Rick
