Re: Incorrect DEF - See dealer

The CEL light lit up yesterday, I'm now the newest member of the P20EE club with the ODO at approximately 8.2K miles.

I didn't get any Incorrect DEF or Service DEF messages, does that match others?

The catalyst won't be available until 14 December. The dealer is giving me back my Jeep and says that it is OK to drive until the Catalyst comes in. Per the dealer, they claim there won't be any damage nor will I get stranded with any mileage countdowns until shutdown. Is this true?

Thanks- Eric

Re: Incorrect DEF - See dealer

Anyone ever notice the kinks in the bend at the end of the cat converter.
I've seen some 2015 diesels now that don't have those.
(Right behind the 2 sensors in the pipe /rear pass door area)
Wonder if it has anything to do with P20EE.
The CAT replacement in the TSB is the same old part number.
Not redesigned.

I believe you are okay. I have driven a couple thousand miles since I got the P20EE. My P20EE actually went away after a few hundred miles.

The TSB Cat part# ends in -AB. The one I got as a replacement in August ends in -AA. Should be different.

The -AB is the catalyst ordered for mine. Once the part comes in and is installed I'll keep you posted how it goes. With the cold setting I could really use having the MIL off so I can remote start again.

Re: Incorrect DEF - See dealer

I just rolled over 16k miles and have not had any of these concerns (just the broken nozzle from splashing water at 1k miles). Do you guys tow or do lots of highway driving? Maybe too many city / short trip cycles cause this...

Re: Incorrect DEF - See dealer

Excursion Diesel.....Question, I noticed you were getting a Cat Converter Code. I've now gotten three. First time my dealer did a software up date. Second, Jeep wanted them to put a new injector in, which they did last Tuesday. I went to leave on my trip on Thursday early morning, and as soon as I got on the highway it kicked another code. I just got back from the dealer and it is a Cat Converter code again. I'm waiting for the dealer to hear back from Jeep. What have you found to be the fix for the Cat Converter code? Wondering if I should use the lemon law. In Mass, i have to give them 3 tries, this being the third.
Thanks

You might want to be more specific than "Cat Converter Code". Take a look at the dealer's report and see if you recognize the exact DTC there. The one that was plaguing us here was P20EE - "SCR NOx Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 1". Did you have the same DTC in both cases?

They are following the procedure in the latest TSB. They made sure your software was current then checked your DEF flow and replaced the injector. Replacing the Cat is the next step after DEF flow is restored. The vehicle can be driven with the CEL on as long as it isn't flashing. The bad Cat doesn't damage anything or hurt performance. The new Cat is most likely backordered.
