Spoke with my dealer... They finally agreed it was the catalyst after ruling out everything else... Wow what an experience. I am on a waiting list now for the catalyst.

Re: Incorrect DEF - See dealer

I have a Sep 13 build with 35,200 trouble-free miles. I took it to the dealer for an oil change on Tuesday. While they had it they flashed all the latest software updates and added 2.5 gal of Mopar DEF. Well, today I got the dreaded bad DEF see dealer msg. It's getting dropped off at the dealership tomorrow. (sigh)

This problem does not go away. Check the DEF filter and injector nozzle. You will find the DEF has crystalized and there is no way to clean the tank. It is too bad owners have to go through these steps just to keep the car running. There is a TSB to replace the converters on the 2014. JEEP should be ashamed of their product on this one.

Sisters CEL came on again. Stopped by the dealer and gave them a talking too. She has an appointment on Monday to look at the Jeep.

Re: Incorrect DEF - See dealer

So my sister got her jeep back and they replaced the "dosing injector". Time and mileage will tell if that fixed. I'm assuming it won't.

The dealer found DTC 2BA-00 "NOX Exceedence - Insufficient Reducted Quality"
They flashed the PCM with S/B 18-018-14 Rev E and added another 2.5 gal of Mopar DEF. I incorrectly assumed they had already accomplished this since it was released as an RRT (Rapid Response Transmittal) in Dec and I specifically asked them to do all the applicable software updates during my last dealer visit.

I spent about 30 minutes recapping the 30+ pages of information I gleaned from this thread along with paper copy's of the applicable Service Bulletins to the Service Manager when I dropped the Jeep off at the dealership. He was sympathetic, but basically said the whole trouble-shooting process has to run its course even if it means multiple trips to the dealer with lots of parts backorder delays.

The good news is I drove it about 150 miles yesterday without issue. I expect I'll be back at the dealership soon, though.

Re: Incorrect DEF - See dealer

My Jeep went into the shop on Monday with the message 130 miles until vehicle will not restart message. I have had this same experience with some Ram 5500 cab and chasis in our fleet. I figured I would get the usual - reflash and reset and take it or that we need to replace the cat and NOx sensor, but I have not gotten that lucky. Today they are telling me that they performed a reflash and now my car will not go in to park!?! Has anyone heard of this happening before. I am in the automotive business and it seems strange to me.

Pulled/cleared/gone...we'll see how long it takes for it to come back. The time/mileage between codes is shrinking. Looks like I'll be going to the dealer sooner than I hoped. Chrysler!
So I figured I'd make an appointment and take my CRD in...of course the service department at river oaks in houston is already below average to me based on other visits (not knowing how to do the oil change, etc...). The normal service rep doesn't work there anymore.

So of course they don't take appointments first come first serve
Then they won't even look at the cat, until they flash it, which will take them 1/2 a day
And then when that doesn't work, I'll have to come back and drop it off for the cat replacement.

As much as I do love this diesel Jeep, their service department along with their poor design will drive me away at some point .

Re: Incorrect DEF - See dealer

Guys and girls I can't keep away from this forum, and am an OCD person, I feel like my wife and I are just waiting for something bad to happen!! We have 6k miles or so, no trouble, and owe like 32k on the 14 Overland eco diesel.

We have never worried for one second about any of our Toyota's having a problem, and have literally never been to a dealer for a repair I had to pay for (tsb/warranty work rarely).

Please talk me (us) off the cliff as I have considered taking the incredible trade-in beating and getting the Lexus 350, which was her second choice.

Thoughts? This really is causing undue stress, and at 43 years of age I can't remember a physical object worrying me like this. FWIW this is/was my wife's dream vehicle and the most we have spent on a vehicle by far.

Rick

Rick and wife, no sense of worrying about something that might never happen...seriously, many many have the same truck, and dont have any issues... So, enjoy it !
