Apple has released iOS 8 for existing iPhones and the iPhone 6/6+ with iOS 8 pre-installed.
There have been reports of UConnect incompatibilities. Can those that have either upgraded to iOS 8 or purchased an iPhone 6/6+ with it or forum leaders, please post related success and issues that are being identified, possible work arounds, or info on upcoming uConnect versions related.
No problems with new iphone 6
No problems with iOS 8 on iphone 5, did not have to forget device and reconnect.
No problems streaming iOS 8 from ipad mini Bluetooth connected as a media device.
Have never been able to send text from an iOS device to uconnect (#4), but the voice to text feature works fine under iOS 8 with the uconnect microphone.
Yes, get an inexpensive Android Tracfone like the Samsung Galaxy Centra that I have. My Tracfone works perfectly with ALL of the features of Uconnect. I guess you need to decide which is more important to you. Impressing people that you have an iPhone with an Apple logo on the back or having a cell phone that works with ALL of the features of Uconnect.
check for the "enable notifications" in the blutooth screen for the uconnect device on your iphone
I'm using the iphone6 and everything is working fine, I had to enable notifications for the uconnect device to get the new text message notification on the car screen though
I rarely use my work phone iPhone 5s in my truck. Will try the step as mentioned and then will do the update and try the steps again. I did connect to uconnect a while back with the iphone and i was able to stream youtube with no issues. Only got audio.
I can't seem to get Pandora to stream over bluetooth correctly. It worked on my Android but seems to play really quiet and only the front speakers on my new iPhone 6. Not sure if that a hardware, software, or user issue.
For the volume issue, try turning up the volume on the iPhone while it's playing. Leave the volume on your head unit alone. For the time being As for only the front speakers playing, have you confirmed that this is the only source that is playing from the front speakers? First thing to double check is fade in the Uconnect settings.
My iPhone 5 with iOS 8 worked fine but an iPhone 6 would disconnect from Bluetooth after the first ring. Call would stay active on the phone but show completed on the Nav screen. I tried deleting and repairing the phone and the issue persisted. I reset the network settings on the iPhone 6 and re-paired it and have made a few calls since with no issues. Saw another post saying a hard reset on the phone also worked to get things going again.
On a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, resetting the network settings on my iPhone 6+ didn't work for Uconnect placing or receiving calls, but I did get it to work after resetting all settings on the phone, deleting the pairing on my phone and in my list of pairings on Uconnect.
After resetting all settings, i paired my phone in a different position than I used before (position 2 instead of 1), with a different code (probably meaningless, but who knows). After the pairing was complete, I tested the Uconnect phone by calling my iPhone from my home number instead of placing a call from my iPhone.
I don't know what if anything I did was 'correct', but it works now, and from reading this board and Apple discussion boards it appears that random different things work.
I updated from a 5S to a 6, I removed and un paired my 5s from the the connect system then paired my new 6 to it, so far no issues on placing or receiving calls, haven't checked any other features
iPhone 5 updated to IOS 8. When plugged in via USB, can Browse music etc. from radio, but 95% of the time the selected item does not play. If it does, the search bar and skip buttons do not work and usually cause the item playing to freeze. So far everything with Bluetooth seems fine, - and I did not delete and add my phone to the radio.
Gotta love being an early adopter Hope this stuff gets addressed quickly by Chrysler. I have not called Chrysler yet, - has anybody here done that yet?
Apple is aware and will address it in next update. There are many active discussions regarding this on apple forums regarding numerous different auto brands, not just jeep
Iphone 6, 8.0.2, so far no issues with my 2014 SRT uconnect, only required removal of privious pairings and renaming my new phone to a different name, paired right up and while I haven't checked every possible feature, things seem to be working flawlessly so far
As previously mentioned resetting the iPhone settings is the answer in getting the iPhone to work with Uconnect until Apple fixes this bug. I have had to perform these steps after upgrading iOS to 8.0 and 8.0.2
1. Delete the pairing on your car if one exists for your iPhone.
2. Delete the pairing on your phone for your car if one exists.
3. Go to SETTINGS
4. Click on GENERAL
5. Click on RESET
6. Click on RESET ALL SETTINGS (Note: There is no data loss in doing this).
6. Once your phone resets go to SETTINGS
7. Click on BLUETOOTH and delete any bluetooth devices that may exist.
8. Now pair your phone with your car.
9. Phone should work correctly with car now.
Siri and iMessages will need to be turned on under SETTINGS.
If you have a finger print recognition on your phone you will need to perform the following steps:
1. Click on SETTINGS.
2. Click on TOUTCH ID and Passcode
3. Setup your thumb
4. Turn on use Touch ID for: iTunes & App Store
This solution was initially provided by Walt Mossberg and it worked for my iPhone 6 on the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Toyota Highlander and my boos's Lincoln MKX.
my iPhone 6, with 8.0.2, works just fine with my Uconnect system, just deleted my previous phone, gave my new phone a different name and synced it to the car
I had trouble at first getting the iPhone 6 to work reliably with my car’s built-in Bluetooth. Apple gave me a solution, which involved removing old, unused devices from my far-larger-than-normal list of devices connected to iCloud. (The company said this had something to do with proper Bluetooth pairing on my particular car model.) But Bluetooth calling in the car worked fine after that. Apple says most customers aren’t likely to have this issue, but it is promising a bug fix soon.
Shannon, I think you may need to upgrade your uconnect system, you can download an update from the uconnect website and check your version to see if an upgrade is available for your car by entereing the last 8 of it's VIN number.... The down load instructions sound more complicated than they are, I did one yesterday using my MAC computer... Pretty simple really.... May cure your phone connect problems
14.25.5 is the most current version, and I am already updated. I am not having any iPhone issues, my previous post was telling someone else to upgrade to the current version.
Weird how Iphone 6, with 8.0.2, & UC 14.25.5, works flawlessly for me and others, and yet there are those who are having issues with the same set up, wonder why???
