Jeep in limp mode before delivery?

Hey guys, so I ordered a Summit diesel back at the first of December from River Oaks in Houston and it finally came in this week. Today was supposed to be delivery but I got a call from Mark saying that when they were prepping the Jeep it threw a check engine light and also a "squiggly" light and it is now stuck in third gear. They have been trying to figure out what is wrong all day and have nothing yet (they thought it was the fuel filter at first so they changed it).

My questions are, has anyone experienced the same errors and what would you do in this situation? I hate thinking about paying this much for a vehicle that is having problems before it's even mine. Would you demand a different vehicle or a re-order?

The only light that I think of as "squiggly" is the traction control light...

Well, the DEF light looks like this which I guess could be considered squiggly:

Re: Jeep in limp mode before delivery?

Yeah I don't know what it is as I am in Fort Worth and they were going to have the Jeep transported to me so I can't just stop by and check it out. All Mark could describe it as is a squiggly light. He didn't know what it was. Makes me nervous since I can't check it out before delivery now.

Re: Jeep in limp mode before delivery?

I picked mine up Tuesday and all was well with my SFU. Sorry to hear this and hope they resolve the issue.
I am pretty happy with mine...

Re: Jeep in limp mode before delivery?

Things like this worry me when my SFU has been sitting unloaded from the train for 3 days just 45min away from the dealer.

Re: Jeep in limp mode before delivery?

I'd be pissed, but it's better to happen with the dealer than with you on your way home. Things happen, so if it is a competent dealer, it should be OK. I would be taking it for a good test drive if you can before taking ownership. Best of luck and let us know the outcome.

Re: Jeep in limp mode before delivery?

Ok so now they are calling me and said that the Jeep is good to go and that the fuel filter was the problem. I am driving down there to check it out today. It seems odd that a vehicle with less than 5 miles on it would already have a clogged fuel filter. Also the fact that they said it was not the filter the day before makes me wonder what's going on. I will follow up after I check it out in person today.

Re: Jeep in limp mode before delivery?

I would just relax, these things will throw a code if you fart while standing next to em. Chances are pretty high its nothing to worry about, I've had a few cars glitch out when new and they went on to be fine. Lot of stuff to go wrong and new parts will typically fail early when they are faulty. Take it for a good spin to be sure, then enjoy IMO.

Re: Jeep in limp mode before delivery?

Update. Just got back from checking out the Jeep. This situation is really when it comes in handy if your dealer sells rams as well. Basically the dpf just needed to regen and it went into limp mode due to all the idle time the jeep has had (went back and forth between lots for 2 weeks before loaded on the train). The jeep service guys didn't understand the regen and dpf and kept referring to it as the fuel filter to the salesman (Who then told me the same). The ram service tech got the regen taken care of and all the codes cleared. Basically just a lot of miscommunication. All is good now.
