Jeep Won't Start

well, after 5 trouble free months after getting the heads replaced, the Jeep won't start tonight. I have battery power, lights and display comes on. Voltage reads a little low (12v) but I've started with less before. Had a guy come out to try and jump it, but it still won't go. So now I have 3 pieces of equipment coming out to try and pull it out of the farthest corner of the lowest level of my apartment's parking garage and take it to the dealer for the 12th, yes, 12th time in 24 months.

Any thoughts on what it could be? I noticed the MIL came on after the 4th or so time trying to start it, but no actual messages on the display. I have also seen the "Battery Saver Mode" message pop up almost every time I've started it recently. So maybe the battery is shot. Or the alternator isn't charging it properly. But given my previous issues, I doubt it'll be that simple. I recently filled up, so I'm worried it might be bad fuel, but I also recently filled up my DEF tank, so it could be that too. Really wish I had that code reader right about now...

Getting really sick of this vehicle.

It sounds like your battery is going.

Which trim level do you have?

I've seen that message when I started mine around zero this winter. The heated seat, steering wheel, rear defrost, and HVAC on with level 3 blower fan setting. Last winter I could start it in colder weather with all these accessories on and not see this message. I figure next winter I'll need a new battery.

Re: Jeep Won't Start

Limited w/ Lux II.

Update: I got it started. Not sure what I did. I jiggled all the connections under the hood, reseated the fuses, checked the battery connections, and tried pushing the start button with the FOB and somehow it (barely) started. I drove it like i stole it for a bit last night, but when I started it up again a few more times, it was still struggling though it got better each time too. So I got it started this morning and drove down to the dealer to have them run all the electrical tests and see what the issue is. I'm betting on battery, but who knows. Just weird it wouldn't start with 2 battery boxes trying to jump it.

Apparently there is an RRT out on it too for the SCR system and it threw a stored code for it, so they are checking all that out again too. Probably be until Monday when they have a diagnosis. I am just glad I was able to get it out from the underground parking garage...

I forgot to mention that the SCR heater turns on at 12 degrees F and colder which heats the tank and line. Not sure what temp they turn the fuel heater on in the fuel module. Just a couple more battery vampires.

Good to hear it started. Sounds like it may be your battery yet.

Re: Jeep Won't Start

Glad to hear you got it going again. My starter crapped out at about 60k and I had to have it towed to the dealer. Max Care covered it so that was good. I haven't heard of anyone size having starter issues but hey if it happens again it's something to consider.

Re: Jeep Won't Start

Well of course the dealer couldn't find anything wrong with it when I brought it in last week. But on my 700 mile road trip this weekend, the "Battery Saver Mode" alert came on every single time I started the vehicle and sometimes came on in the middle of a long run on the road. The voltage meter on my OBD reader has it between 11.5 and 12.5 most of the time which seems low. I also now have a "Battery Saver Mode" message on the EVIC that I can't clear. I guess I will just have to wait till it strands me somewhere and take it back to the dealer. Great customer service again Chrysler!
