Not only that but is design to work in sequence - cleaning -> protecting. Premature oil changes will increase the chance of premature engine wear.

Latest PCM software update

Because dealer recommends every 5k for the Eco diesel in my area of country so I figured why not the next few are free anyway

Also with EGR and PCV recirculating soot it goes back into the oil. When I get those removed hopefully with full custom tuning I'll wait 10k possibly

Dealer wants your money. Who do you think knows more about your engine... a dealership or the people who designed the motor

My CDI employ those as well but since day one the oil is been changed somewhere between 10-12k miles and after 110000 miles on it I don't see any problems. I did UOA at 9700 last time and recommendation was to run it 3000 more and send another sample. Same engine in Europe is on 20000 miles oil change interval.
Plus you can stretch those free oil changes over longer period of time.

Re: Latest PCM software update

I waited til 9,800 k for the first oil change. Dealer said the oil looked good so I'll wait another 10k miles before getting the second one. Oil change was only $130 so well worth the interval to help with lower maintenance costs.

Also read that since diesels don't run as high an RPM nor run as hot as a gasoline engine - the oil then doesn't degrade as quickly.

Latest PCM software update

I thought the high compression lead to sheering just the same as high rpm
But diesel oil has anti sheering additives... That's why a lot of crotch rockets run Rotella T6 in their 16,000rpm motors because it's cheap and has cert for wet clutch even though it's diesel oil

Re: Latest PCM software update

Just to add something:
Now my oil life counter seems to be going on schedule after I reset it. When they did the oil change tech was not able to reset it by pressing the gas pedal, so he end up using the Chrysler diagnostic system to reset it.
But second thing it is what I really don't like:
At the delivery I got the Adblue tank filled up, but after 5700 miles trip we did this summer it stopped using any. After 9100 miles it was showing about 1/16 of the inch above 1/4 mark and is been like this since july. After the PCM update car start using it again and now after 400 miles I am just bellow 1/4 mark.
