Maybe if they took the concept of the spinning rims people used in Trenton, and applied it to the steering wheel and inner paddle shifters, they could develop a steering wheel that turned the wheels while the paddle shifters would stay centered.
On my wife's Ford Flex, the paddles both do the same thing, so it doesn't matter which one you use. Push it to down shift and pull it to up shift. The paddles are way better quality on the Grand Cherokee, but I like the implementation better on the Flex.
