Limited vs Overland? Opinions

Outside of power folding mirrors and air suspension what are any reasons anyone may have to go with one vs the other. I'm definitely going diesel but not sure about ltd vs overland now. Help!

Re: Limited vs Overland? Opinions

If you option your Limited with Lux, Advance Tech Pack, Diesel you are going to get close to the Overland. I picked Overland after doing this same evaluation because I wanted the air ride and all the other options that come with the Limited that are standard on the Overland.
Also I prefer the look of the Overland with the wheel well moldings not black plastic.
It is all what you want to do with the Limited/ Overland and how you like the looks.
The air suspension is reported to provide a superior ride which is what I wanted...

I hear you on the superior ride but I do plan to keep mine for a long time and I worry about long term maintenance of the air suspension system.

Having the air suspension is a good reason to get an extended warranty but I do enjoy having an overland. By the time i optioned the limited I darn near had an overland and I couldn't get used to the black panels that come with the limited and the extra overland equipment is nice.

Superior off road, sure, on road, I read several reviews that stated otherwise.
I never test drove cars back to back to test as I wasn't prepared to spend the extra anyway, but have you tested both to see which you actually prefer?

Depends on what you want. I was looking for a Limited, but I couldn't find one equipped the way I wanted it. I test drove both, but found an Overland equipped exactly the way I wanted it, even to the colors, so I bought it. The Overland may ride a bit harsher, but I prefer it as it seems to hold the road better on turns without the lean that the Limited had, at least the Limiteds I tested. I think I ended up dropping about $1.5k more for the Overland. I like the folding mirrors. I had those on my Tahoe and they are very useful when trying to get close to an ATM or a mailbox.

Don't know what the problem was, but around here, finding a Limited with the Offroad Adventure II and the Advanced Technology packages seemed to be a losing proposition when I was shopping.

The if it is harsher, that is more to do with 20” vs 18” wheels.
The tests I read were the opposite, it was 20” vs 20” and said the air suspension wallowed more in corners.
Is there a sport mode foe the suspension that may counter this?

It was a video revriew that stands out more in my head, if I can find it I will post it.
One man’s review though, the others were written reviews that I will have no hope of finding.

Sport mode drops the ride height and seems to stiffen up the ride. I wish I could set it to Sport and leave it there.

Re: Limited vs Overland? Opinions

I have to EcoDiesel Overland with ORII - thus the 18" wheels. The smoothness of the ride is as good if not better than any luxury vehicle I have been in. Nothing rough about the ride. Air suspension makes it so you are riding on a cushion of air. I too have the concerns about long term maintenance of the air suspension and all the electronics, which is why I have an extended warranty.

Re: Limited vs Overland? Opinions

I bought the Limited 4x4 Ecodiesel with ORAII (comes with Quadradrive II and Quadralift Air Suspension, Adv. Towing Pkg, etc.) but left off the Adv. Tech Pkg. I think if you equip a Limited as close you can to an Overland, you'll come out about $3000 less, plus or minus, but there will still be differences. Someone already mentioned the body-colored wheel moldings that come with the Overland. There's also the body-colored front facia, and the carpet matches the rest of the interior color, not to mention an additional interior color option. For example, if you picked a light color interior, the carpets are also light color. My interior is New Zealand Frost, but my carpets are black.

That said, I think you'd be happy with either choice. I've had my Limited since mid-November, and I love it. Everyone who opted for the Adv. Tech. Pkg. on Limited, as well as those who bought Overlands, love the adaptive cruise control.

the optioning out/$ was one factor for me, but the non-painted panels are the reason I went Overland. To my eye, I prefer a painted body.

Re: Limited vs Overland? Opinions

I wanted the 20" wheels as well as the ATG when looking at the Limited Ecodiesel. I basically ended up with the trailer hitch / mirrors / better leather / air suspension and a few other bells and whistles for $300.

Don't forget Limited doesn't get towing by default
