Ordered. Will be doing pre and post dyno runs to see if it gains more than just noise. Will report back when complete .

Looking forward to your dyno results. I remember when MBRP came out with an exhaust for the 07/08 WK CRD. I think it was Diesel Power that installed and dyno'd it with no power improvemnet. I don't remember if they tested it for increased mileage.

Re: Magnaflow Exhaust

I have yet to see an exhaust that provided anything more than 5-10hp, which is within typical variance for a dyno run. The reason to get an exhaust is for the soundtrack imo, anything more than that and you're kidding yourself

Re: Magnaflow Exhaust

Yeah, the low hanging fruit aint what it used to be. Regardless I'm glad someone is doing it. Speaking of which make sure the car is fully warmed up Mush, both runs. Its common for shops to run directly after the install when the car is still cold. Also make sure the runs are done exactly the same way. Its easy to manipulate the dyno for more or less power and a marginal shop will try and "show" a gain where none existed. If its a good shop you wont have to worry about it, they'll be seeking honest numbers.

Re: Magnaflow Exhaust

Gains are tougher as most manufacturers now have good exhaust systems stock. They are most likely mandrel bent piping and not the old press bent exhaust pipes which would restrict things.
But I've found with turbo anything, you can't have too much flow!
More the better for spoolup of turbo and top end power.

I am taking it to an independent shop. I am installing the exhaust myself and purchased it from summit...So the shop should have no reason to want to influence results.
Magnaflow claims power gains...but I know that is worth next to nothing. The fact they don't state specific performance numbers, means the change is likely minimal, especially since everything else on the GC is stock thus far.

Probably needless to say, but exhausts typically provide better numbers as you add additional mods. Hopefully, an air intake will be available soon.

Arrived today. Will probably try to install Friday. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like I'll be able to dyno since I'm having trouble finding a local AWD dyno, and no easy way to make the GC run 2wd.

Then why, if it just for sound, did I pick up over a half a second in the 8th with my exhaust setup. Granted its on the 3.7 but still. Id put money on my exhaust making 15 to 20 hp.

You take your JGC to the strip?

Show me hard numbers and make me a believer my friend. Same mods, same DA, same temp? How were you measuring these gains? I have tuned more than a few cars in my day (albeit, mostly German), and I have never heard of anyone gaining half a second on an 1/8 from an exhaust, hell, that's a full second on the 1/4. That's a lot more than 15-20 hp.

Maybe with a good tune on a FI engine with an intake and an exhaust...

More power to you if so, but given my experience I am a bit skeptical.

I track mine yes. All I can say is my best run in the 8th was a 10.37 at 69mph. Ran a 10.6 before the headers. Ran a 10.9 before the catback. 11 with an intake and stock was 11.2. Im running quite a few mods besides exhaust and my hypertec picked up a tenth. Those times seem low but you need to realize that chrysler has a 0 to 60 throttle restriction on it and torque management that ive been trying to remove. My next mods will put me deep into the 9s. Those are my numbers. I dont have dyno data but track times dont lie and all runs where done at night in 70 to 75 degree temps. Oh if it helps im also rwd and had it weighted at 4260. This is not my first time tuning eighter. I cant give you my times slips and im not trying to get out of showing them. But I am not in the states at this time and wont be back until 2015. My local track is Clarksville speedway. In Clarksville Tennessee.
