Re: Major EcoDiesel Injector Pump Issue

Update, service is still working on the injector fix. Do not know if there is a problem or parts issue. But this is their first injector repair on a diesel. Still sitting in the bay after 2 weeks.

Currently the dealer is looking at offering options on replacement vehicle. Not sure how the money will work out, given that the replacements are 2016/15 models. Doesn't seem fair having to pay out difference for new vehicle given mine was perfectly fine a month ago. Think I will be going with the V6 Pentastar, also partly because the dealer does not have any diesels (that are close to my trim) in stock at any of its locations.

Consider talking to Jeep Cares a member of this forum, or calling Jeep customer care prior to deciding what to do. They were very easy to work with in my case and have helped out a ton.

Re: Major EcoDiesel Injector Pump Issue

And it took my dealer >6 weeks to get the repair done, but they didn't find the issue right away.

Re: Major EcoDiesel Injector Pump Issue

I did call jeep customer care and opened a case. Discussed issue of the many repairs since purchase and the current Injector issue . But they indicated that the mileage (28k) was over the 24k for manufacturer assistance, buy back etc. I would have to contact the national dispute center (NCDS). Doesn't sound very promising. Also keeping dealer in loop. They are making an effort to assist, but wanted the case established before following up.

Is the 24k and 2 years the typical cutoff for mfg assistance?

Continues...

Re: Major EcoDiesel Injector Pump Issue

Not sure, but if you can date your first issue before then, based on my experience, what you were told was wrong.

Re: Major EcoDiesel Injector Pump Issue

Just got my JGC diesel back from the dealer with an entire new fuel system due the the diesel fuel pump failure. Took 3 weeks to get the parts in and a week to replace. No rental car for a month. Lucky I just retired, so i did not need to get back to work. Happy with the outcome, but since it only has 27k I thought it worth looking into. There are quite a few on both the Jeep & RAM 1500 forums so it's getting me to think it's going to be an issue down the line.

I think the thing to keep in mind here is how much these issues occur in relation to the TOTAL number of engines/ vehicles like this on the road. I think being extremely liberal, these issues account for 5-10% of all of the number of Ecodiesels on the road. And I honestly think that that number is high.

While it sucks that it happened, and it sucks more when it happens to you, the vast majority of jeeps with this engine aren't having these issues. People usually come on these forums for help or to complain. They don't represent EVERY diesel owner out there and usually the ones that have a good working one don't come online about it.

Just putting all of these issues in perspective.

Re: Major EcoDiesel Injector Pump Issue

Yes. I probably should have indicated that I don't think it's a large number of vehicles, and that I would not of known of the issue if it did not happen to mine. I've read that world wide it's less than 1%.
Btw I had the CAT replacement too. But I still love the vehicle,
