Question Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

Got the call ysterday, your truck is ready for pick up. We did the same update we did last time, which we know didn't fix the problem. When the mil pops up again, and he said when, we will be sure to schedule an immediate appointment for you to drive 20 minutes to the dealerhip, spend 15 minutes talking to the service advisor, take another half hour to have my wife drive to and pick up the rent a car and then another 20 minutes for us 2 drive home. And then we have to do that all over again to pick up the truck. And they haven't fixed the issue, they just did the software update they did the first time.
I know this is probably not news for you guys but I'm into this for the first time.
Ok, we gotta go now, pick up the truck and drop off the rental. I'm sure I'll be posting another rant later on.
You know, what really bugs me is the 3rd trip I'm destined to make to fix the p20ee issue.

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

I just got my second CEL, 1100 miles from my last one and a "software update". I have to wait a week to get an appointment. Anybody run into issues driving ~300 miles with this P20EE CEL?

With my early repeated P20EEs I drove several hundred miles after one of them tripped and it was not an issue for me.

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

I am having a P20EE issue again. Apparently, the replacement parts from January 2015 have now failed. Or were never installed. Best part, was on a road trip 200 miles from home. I am now taking a taxi to the local airport to rent a car. I have to deal with the billing on Monday. My dog likes the taxi ride at least. Wife, not so much. Just disappointed. Really.

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

Picked up my 2014 Ecodiesel (27,000 miles) from a tire rotation, oil and filter, air filter, and fuel filter change service. Had a MIL which turned out to be the dreaded CAT replacement one, so now am on the list for a back-ordered CAT. Hope the replacement clears the MIL and I don't suffer recurring problems like many of you have.

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

Not even 50 miles later the check engine light is on. Its saturday night so I'll call early on monday, the service guy promised to get me back in right away. What is the current availability of the catalytic converters??
Thanks.

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

Another data point...

36000 miles MIL illuminates. "Incorrect DEF" error msg. Dealer does software update and adds more Mopar DEF.

38000 miles MIL illuminates. "P20EE" code. Dealer orders new cat, new injector, and new oxygen sensors. All parts finally show up and are installed after five weeks on backorder. About $3000 of parts and labor all covered under warranty.

40000 miles and all is well so far.

For me the catalytic converter took 8 business days to arrive. It was an exhaust gasket that took 10 days that was the slow up. Car goes in tomorrow for the cat and def injector replacement after second P20EE code. I have put on about a thousand miles since the light came on and have not a drop of 1-2 mpg.

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

Dealer replaced the cat yesterday (it took a while for the parts to arrive) I still don't hear the sort of beeping noise after the ignition is shut off so I'm wondering if there is still a problem with the injector after they did the tie-back thing with the recall.

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

Our Jeep is in today with about 15k miles on it. Already been through "flashes" ordeal which really sucks since my service guy is over an hour away. But always super helpful and gave us a new Ram to drive while down. Told me there are 8 cats available in Dallas today and they are overnighting one in. So if anyone near there waiting for one maybe some good news. I will update when I get Jeep back Wednesday. Thanks to all for the great info here. I would be pulling my hair out if I hadn't already expected these issues.

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

Ours goes in on Thursday for new cat, injector etc. Had the engine light code three or four times now, so they finally agreed to do the tear down. Ordered the parts and I got an email three days later to say they were in. Can't say I'm too stressed about it. That's what a warranty is for. Just hope it fixes the issue once and for all. Should send a thankyou card to the EPA for all this crap!

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

A quick question regarding the P20EE issue. I bought an Ecodiesel (2014) in the US and it is now in Europe, Greece (although still registered in the US). Given also issues with the P20EE does anyone know whether the warranty is applicable here in Greece? The local dealer claims no, and proposed I send the car back to the US to have the P20EE fixed!!! Can someone help and advise on this? Again the car has 10k miles, still US registered (thus considered a tourist car).
