Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

Gained a new SCR catalyst and lost a MIL today. Hope this is the end of it. I had also noticed that a somewhat schrill, diesely sound at about 1500 RPM when accelerating had developed. This now, with the new cat, appears to have vanished. Just have to reinstall the "Dom plate" now.

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

I'm still a bit nervous about this issue. Does anyone have 20,000 miles on a new cat so we know this won't keep happening every 15,000 miles?

So far my check engine light has not returned after dousing itself 1,200 miles ago. So I'm at 14,900 miles with the original cat still.

Well I got the numbers back yesterday. After our mileage fee and selecting a cheaper Jeep (V8 non 4X4) we will have to pay $632.97 to swap the Jeeps. Now I am waiting to find out what happens to the warranty I bought and what warranty Chrysler is going to give us. Plus we need to know if the are going to do a vin swap on the note or I have to refinance. More waiting imagine that..... This BS has only been going on since January. We sure are tired of it.

back on topic for owners, what is the cause of this fault code (SCR catalytic converter?) and are parts replaced supposed to last longer than 17,000 miles? my 2014 on 17,000 miles the MIL came on. mechanically I can't tell if anything is wrong and made it back from a 700 mile trip to VA these last couple of days.
Given that I also have the P20EE code and was recently diagnosed with a cat issue (waiting to see whether the dealer will cover it, I have a US registered GC but now live abroad) I am also very concerned on whether the problem will persist following a cat replacement. Also since the MIL light is on, yes I have driven lots of miles however there are two issues, one is that remote start will not work and the other is that I have noticed a slowdown of the ecodiesel performance. Speaking to a mechanic he mentioned that could possibly be a case given the car enters a “safe mode” during the MIL process.

Any thoughts on both the after cat replacement era and the safe mode?

I know remote start would not work on ours while the check engine light was on.

Back to the dealer tomorrow...............
The service tech did a manual regen and cleared the code this morning. They backordered a SCR Catalyst for me. I have only driven about 20 miles since and the MIL remains unlit.

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

I tried to get warranty moved to a new jeep when the 2014 one went. No luck as it goes with the VIN so Chrysler claims. You can move it if the warranty was purchased i believe less than 90 days ago. Chrysler plan that is.

I'm in the same boat as you. Light came on and I pulled the code. Then pulled the bike to a track day from Atlanta to Leeds, AL and the light went out.

I'm sure the long haul combined with towing helped clean out the cat. However, I'm not sure if it's just a sign of things to come or if it just needs be used like this more often.

Keep us posted. I haven't seen too many cases like ours where the light came on, went off and STAYED off. I did get the latest flash after the light had already gone out, but took no long trips or did anything unusual between the light coming on and then going out.

I have a feeling it'll be back for both of us, but time will tell...

Yeah, my gut agrees. I wonder if the soot reduction from the GDE tune would help.

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

I would expect it to come back on. My light and an associated warning to see the dealer for service came on last June. On the way to the dealer, the warning went away but the light stayed on. The dealer flashed the software and cleared the trouble code and the light stayed off for nearly ten months. But it did come back on and now it's in the shop having the cat replaced, along with the O2 sensor the tech broke during the repair process.

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

New SCR and new "DPF Flange" whatever that is... they broke three bolts under there and had to order extra parts to get it put back together. So I got my Jeep after almost a month driving a smelly smoky loaner.

I am very concerned about a recurrence of this... So much so that I am truly considering selling it. Disheartened and disillusioned.
