Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

I have not had any problems with the Jeep at all until the cat replacement. This was not a major issue for me because the dealer took care of it in one day and it didn't cost me anything. It sounds like production of the new cat is catching up with demand and based on this article Jeep/Ram diesel issues fixed • Allpar News they seem to be confident about the fix. Hopefully the software upgrade will keep it from happening to the ones who have not needed the replacement yet.

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

Got the cat replaced today, along with the new software update. They also replaced the particulate matter sensor, because they said it was corroded into the pipe. They also broke 3 studs holding the cat in place, and replaced them with bolts and nuts. Surprising that things would corroded that much in a year and a half. Hope this fixes my issues.

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

Update
Service dept tells me that they had a dirty injector issue and flash update. They will finish around noon tomorrow. Not confident this will correct the issue but they have experience replacing the cat. Will post what they provide me regarding the CEL...

I was at the dealer for my 3rd MIL P20EE code yesterday. I was told they forgot to reset the SCR when they replaced the NOx sensor on my last visit. Does this sound like bullshit? I don't understand why they don't just resolve the root of the problem which is the CAT.

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

Dirty injector and reflashed. I could hear a cackle which sounded like my For Superduty starting a few months ago. I think that was the dirty injector making noise not providing the right fuel load. Cackle is gone now so who knows.
Will update if I get a CEL again...

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

43 days at the dealer. Entire exhaust replacement. Everything looks good now. Dealer misaligned the right exhaust tip, but that was a 5 minute fix. I hope for the best. My service advisor mentioned that the cats were full of DEF crystals.

DING! I made it a whole 53 miles. This time I got the "incorrect DEF see dealer" message. Good news is Chrysler is now assigning me a case manager. This vehicle was clearly not production ready when they released it. My wife is not happy considering this is the most I've ever spent on a car. I've never seen the inside of a dealer service garage so many times. This will be my 10th visit in less than 18 months for problems. It's my 1st Jeep so maybe the Jeep guys are used to this type of quality but I've had it. I just don't trust the vehicle. I've had a broken DEF injector from driving thru a puddle. I try to avoid those now when on the highway. This from a so called offroad vehicle. We have a Subaru that cost half as much and I trust that thing more offroad.

Rant over. Until the next time....

Dom's DEF protection plate solves that problem: Jeep Eco Diesel Fix | Jeep Eco Diesel 3.0 V6 exhaust fluid injector and harness guard

I've had mine for a year now and it's an excellent product; furthermore, Dom is a great guy (top-notch post-sale support). Chrysler should have designed the Jeep with a protection plate like this, but until the inevitable DEF injector class action lawsuit concludes 12 years from now with a coupon for "$40 off $3000 or more in overpriced Mopar accessories purchased from mopar.com" for us and $64 million for the class action attorneys, the $175 + shipping for Dom's plate is a small price to pay for peace of mind.
