I was a little distracted - we had to put our dog down, she was 11 years old, a Chesapeake Bay Retriever, dark brown. She had cancer. Damn I miss my Dusty Rose, what a great companion she was, and she loved going on road trips with us. DAMN.
Sorry for your loss. I had to our my 14 year old Akita down last summer. I adopted a year old Beauceron in the Autumn to go with my 9 year old male Akita.

Sorry about Dusty Rose but I am glad she was a Jeep aficionado and you enjoyed some good road trips together!

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

So took the wife's Overland Eco in to the dealer this morning for the 2nd P20EE code (my OBDII says there has been 3). The dealer only did the most recent reflash/software update? It's been running perfect so I think I will let them do this, but if it happens again and they want to only re-flash I will insist they replace the SCR, etc.

Has anyone recently had the 2nd P20EE and only got the tsb? 2014 with 15k miles. Thanks.

Rick

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

Me! I had P20EE at 13,700ish. It went away on its own, dealer applied latest flash. I'm at 17,500 now. It (knock on wood) hasn't come back yet.

Add me to the P20EE club at 18,500 miles. Original cat on a 2014; software updates applied a few months ago.

Talking Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

Well after 20K I got the dreaded P20EE code and the incorrect DEF code. Dealer tried to tell me I had bad DEF. I had the code, it went away after about 2 weeks, then I filled up with DEF. Code reappeared almost instantly. Dealer tried to say it was bad DEF. I have a sample, but they cant get code to clear.

Now they have had it for 7+ days and have replaced SCR, all sensors, DEF injector, flushed DEF, def pump and the code still wont stay clear.

Going to get rental car as it appears it will be even longer now.....Up to this point, the GC has been flawless. Avg 26.3 MPG in a mix of driving and 31 on the highway.

man...I may have to get my old coding tools on and help the poor guys fix this...

Nick

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

I am now on my 3rd P20EE!!!

Back to the dealership I go!

This is BS in my opinion!

Stop the reflash and change the component!

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

Got my 1st one today at 21700 miles. Of course the dealer reflashed it and said they have to follow procedure. I asked them if they knew what this ultimately meant, and they said " Yes we do...." but they said we have to go thru all the fixes/updates in progressive order before FCA will allow them to order parts.

What is the average miles/time between 1st MIL and replacement on average?

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

Mine started replacing after 2nd day they had it....At first they said my DEF was bad....I told them not a chance in hell I was believing that. I asked for a sample of the DEF...the following day, same code after they flushed the DEF and replaced the SCR per the recall. Now they have replaced all the sensors and DEF twice....still cant clear code....

I spent 10+ years writing software for Ford/Navistar and DDC diesels. This smells like an issue with tolerances and calculations. I think the real issue is that manufacturing tolerances are not tight enough for the code they have written and its biting them in the A$$. It's not that hard to figure out where the issues are if you get the guy that wrote the code to tell you whats tripping it.

Mine has been there over a week now....codes wont clear....

Hopefully someone will smarten up and get it right....

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

Sorry to hear the dealers are making you guys jump through the "proverbial hoops". I got lucky - my dealer just went through 3 cat replacements prior to me coming in so they'd seen it all. They tested the DEF, flashed the s/w and replaced the cat. Had it back the next day. I just put ~3500 miles on a trip out west and the vehicle ran great no MILs. Best of luck!

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

Have nearly 4000ml since replacements. No problems so far, also seems to regen much less now too.
Methinks some dealers need a reflash, not just the Jeep
