Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

Well thats part of the issue too.....They just dont understand how these things work, they blindly follow flowcharts andspend half the time on the phone with jeep. My problem is that they have already replaced the cat, flashed the s/w, flushed the def, changed out all the sensors and I still get the code....

Like I said....tolerances too tight......if you get a vehicle that is within the range, you get a pass, if your on the fringe, you dont....

What is the average miles/time between 1st MIL and replacement on average?
Well it didn't take long.... CEL is back less than 24 hrs after picking up... this may go pretty quickly !

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

Just adding my experience here. I had a p20ee code that was recurring. Then a few weeks later p2ba9 pops up with the 200 mile countdown. The dealer has had it for a few days. They tested the Blue DEF I was using and it came back fine. They replaced the scr catalyst. No codes are popping up, but they can't get the countdown to stop initiating. The service tech has driven it over 100 miles at the instruction of Chrysler. They are now opening a star case. I will update here when I get it back.

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

Well the dealer updated the software and did the radio recall last Saturday and the damn light came back on yesterday! This will be trip 3, and the wife and I have our fingers crossed all needed parts will be replaced and we will go 100k with no issues.

If this P20EE comes back again after whatever the dealer does next week, I'm thinking of trading it in. Bought new for 52K last June and TMV/KBB/NADA all say trade-in value is 39k at best!

That is stupid. We were able to put down 17k and have the balance down to 20k after this month's payment, but I will not have an unreliable vehicle, period, no matter the cost. 15k on the odometer by the way.

Thoughts? Is the P20EE issue, and maybe the new gasket/manifold issue things that can/will be warranty fixed free and we should be good to go?

Try yo relax karirick. I drove 1500 miles with the MIL lit without any issues. As long as the light isn't flashing you're fine. Did your dealer explain this P20EE is a two step fix process? First update software and if it doesn't fix then replace cat.

Thanks this will be the 3rd trip, so this should be the parts replacement. I'm 44 and have had way to many vehicles over the years (always brand new and trade in a few years losing my rear every time but live and learn) and have never even had a check engine light before. 1 or 2 warranty repaired mechanical issues all these years and this is by far the most we have spent. Hopefully these are growing pains and once resolved it will be trouble free for many, many miles..... I'm also buying a truck in 6-9 months and like the thought of the Ram Eco, but this is making me question that too. We shall see I guess. Factory warranty at least ensures no cost repairs for now. Thanks again.

Yes, karirick, hang in there as stician says. There is reliable life after P20EE. Mine was fixed about 10,000 miles ago and has been trouble free since then (well, other than some self-inflicted damage on the sand dunes that is!).

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

Had my SCR replaced just a few hundred miles ago and it's already having problems again. I was really hopeful that was going to fix it.

The Jeep was already scheduled to go back to the dealer because I discovered the "brown sludge" in my coolant expansion tank and it has been running hot while I'm towing.

On top of that, I discovered the CV axle boots are leaking after they slinged grease all down the side of the vehicle.

So less than two weeks back from the dealer service and I now have 3 issues that need to be addressed.

I love this vehicle but I'm getting very frustrated. I'm considering filing a Lemon Law claim and joining a class action suit a local attorney mailed to me. This is getting ridiculous.

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

I am at ~19K miles and the P20EE code is back. Last year after ~10 dealer visits they finally replaced the cat. Probably the cat agian. Wrote a Lemon Law letter last year following the legal template and the only thing I heard from Fiat-Chrysler was it wa being transferred to a more apporpriate deparment. HMMMM. Anyway nice vehicle, VM Motori engine is solid, but I am tired of visiting the dealer.

Depending on when you had it replaced last year you may have even got the same old cat you had, but a new one of it... I believe the cat part # is on it's 3rd improvement/ revision since the original OEM ones were developed.. you may want to find out if you got an updated version when it was replaced.. they seem to be faring better after replacement....
Mine went in for 2nd MIL P20EE less than a week after 1st MIL at 21700 miles. Dealer order all parts 2nd time in, cat was in stock, and I get it back today only 3 days out of service total... If that is all it takes to get this P20 EE saga behind me I am happy....
