Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

Ok I'm crossing my fingers right now. I took it in yesterday morning and was peeved that my warranty didn't cover rental car (of which I will make sure FCA pays for this as it is a defect and with the problems happening it should be a TSB or recall).

The local dealer read the P20EE code (of which I had on my scanner). Before I bought it to a dealer I asked if they have had others in with this problem and an experienced diesel tech. They stated they have done this before and "learned the hard way" on how to fix these when FCA was less than helpful with how to proceed. They have a Tech who is assigned only these problems and have since done several since then and state that a new cat converter will be in the shop tomorrow and I should have the vehicle back by then. That would make this a < 48 hour repair for this issue. If that's the case then I can't be happier with the dealer's effort. I'll update when this happens - also updating my blog on this and have it linked to Chrysler Cares' twitter account.

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

Well it took my dealer about six hours to do the cat replacement. Dropped it off at 1030AM and got the call around 530PM that it was done. Service writer said his guys messed up thinking it was just out of DEF the first time around. Probably helped that I handed him the TSB on this visit to show him....

Apparently they not only replaced the cat gets replaced but the DEF injector module as well even if the original DEF injector flowed just fine according to their write up. Not sure why and didn't bother to ask...perhaps it's a redesigned part that avoids clogging and is a silent recall?? Anyone know?

They ordered the cat and 3 sensors (looking over the paperwork). Jeep has worked flawlessly for the the last 100 miles.

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

Hello all,

Finally got my P20EE at 27k. Having dealt with the DEF injector replacement shit show, I had done a lot of research and the P20Ee was fully expected. I dropped it off at the dealer, explained that I don't want it back until they replace the CAT. Called Chrysler and asked the same. Chrysler was super helpful and familiar with the issue. The dealer service center initially called me within two hours and told me it was fixed. I asked if they replaced the CAT, the said no, just a flash. I asked them to hang onto it and retest it. Within the next couple hours, the dealer service spoke with Chrysler tech and they pushed through all the necessary testing hurdles, ordered my CAT and it should be ready tomorrow.

I feel like knowing what to expect made this issue less painful and easy to navigate so thank you to all that posted and shared your experiences.

One question... Has anyone had any issues with the replaced CAT or am I out of the woods?

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

Over 4500 miles since my CAT was replaced and no issues. Glad you got out in front of it with the dealer. My dealer did three CAT replacements before I brought mine in and took care of it right away. With all the info on this forum I was loaded for bear but never needed it. I guess it all comes down to the dealer. Best of luck!

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

FYI - Chrysler re-released the CAT replacement TSB yesterday (9/24) as 18-064-15. Same replacement part number for the CAT, but no testing of the DEF injectors or tank as with the procedure in 18-045-14. Also, it is now officially an RRT (15-093). So at least that's some more formal acknowledgement that it is an issue that likely affects all 2014s. Not a full blown recall, but you should be able to get a replacement quicker without haggling with the dealer. Probably worth having them check your VIN for eligibility next time you're in the shop.

With all the attention to diesel emmissions lately I'm guessing the response will be pronto on fixing these type of problems

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

Big thanks to Eaglescout1987 on releasing new TSB. My dealer still doesn't understand that the vehicle does not need to be tested if the VIN number pops up in their data base. They tested it anyway and I'm getting a new catalytic converter tomorrow. I tried to get them to research my VIN over the phone and they said it was listed as meeting the requirement for a new catalytic converter, but they could not order one without testing. It's pretty obvious when you read the new TSB that they can order one based on the VIN. Anyway this post still saved me a lot of time.

MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

Go ahead and add me to the list. After 14,000 trouble free miles, I took the GC to the dealer for it's second oil change and a def refill (I was at 10%).... drove to work, stepped out for lunch and on my drive back the check engine light "Dings" on.

Plugged in the ELm and fired up dash commander and sure enough. P20EE!

Edit: called dealer and told service mgr my reader pulled the p20ee. He asked if it was driving weird, I said no, he then said it should be fine and wait to bring it Monday as they will have more parts in stock for what he calls the fix. I can only assume they have done this repair many times before by his reaction. Didn't ask.

I cleared the code. will see if the CEL pops up again.

Glad I could help! We all need to watch out for each other because from my experience, Chrysler certainly isn't. Nor are most dealers...

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

Another thanks for the RR notice. I has an appt for the P20EE but has to cancel it. Now with the RR, they ordered the parts before even looking at the Jeep, just have to wait for them to come in without wasting my time.
