I am sorry that you are one of the club. We really did not want you in our club, but you had to go and get yourself a P20EE. See how you are?

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

First time I went in for the P20EE, the dealership seemed great. They told me they knew of the issue, but had to follow the procedure before ordering the replacement SCR cat. I accepted this fact and was happy they were working with me. The dealership reflashed my ECU and I went on my merry way awaiting the code coming back. The code did come back last week, more than a month after the first time. I figured I would be good and set up an appointment for yesterday. The dealership did not do what they had previously promised, however. Instead, they updated the ECU again and didn't even have the courtesy to tell me that this was all they were going to do. I had to dig through the paperwork to find that they did anything other than clear the alarm. So, as soon as I got the chance, I downloaded the RRT and gave it back to my service rep this afternoon and told him I'd like the SCR ordered to have it replaced. This is where it sits for me now. The service rep said he would forward the RRT on to the shop manager to look at. It is sad that it takes a customer caring about their vehicle for the dealership to do the job we expect of them. Now I wait for a call from the dealership to confirm that I am correct and deserving of a new SCR. I do not expect a call back and will probably be forced to contact them on Thursday. I cannot wait for this to get done so I can move forward with an order of GDE's product and never worry about this issue again.

Interesting. When I bought mine in, the service manager hooks it up to a scanner and his computer terminal reported the error and all relevant TSB's and RRT's. I didn't have any sort of hassle with them knowing about what needs to be applied. He did indicate they need to do all the testing, fine, but I should be getting a new SCR.

So do different dealers have different software for troubleshooting our vehicles?

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

Such a shame that it is difficult for some of you. I called my dealer and said that I wanted the RRT performed and three days later it was done, and they were happy to do it.

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

I also had a similar wxperience with my dealer last week. Made an appointment, went in, they looked up all RRTs and recalls, said if the code was there they woold replace the cat and perform all the other items. Got a call first thing the next morning saying my Jeep was ready for pick up, and they did replace the cat as well as as the other things. No hassles and they got me a rental car when i broght it in, also arranged without a hassle. Can't ask for better service.

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

Had this code 3-4 times over the past few years. It seems to be an almost annual/semi basis. The past few times they have replace the CAT and they were almost of the thought to replace the entire exhaust system. I understand there's issues when new things are put out to the world, but its kind of an annoying inconvenience.

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

Have 4K on my new CAT no issues thus far 31500 miles.
My dealer was awesome and knew exactly what it was. Had the work done in less than 24 hours with rental car.

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

Took my JGC in after it threw the P20EE, I called Jeep Customer Care to verify my VIN was part of the recall then took it to our local dealer service department together with a copy of the RRT. They read the OBDII, saw the code, ordered the parts, called me when they arrived and it was done within 3 hours!

My recommendation to anyone with a JGC diesel:
1. If you haven't got one, buy a code reader or code reader app.
2. Verify the CEL code.
3. If it is P20EE, call Jeep Customer Care to have them check your VIN.
4. Call your local Jeep service department, advise them of the issue and get an appointment.
5. Download a copy of the RRT to take to dealer.
6. Don't take any crap from them....it is, at least, a NEW SCR Cat and nothing less!!

My dealer also ordered the 3 sensors that go with the SCR cat as they have from previous experience broken almost all of the originals when removing it.

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

Well apparently I jinxed myself mentioning that I had no problems in 60k miles... My jeep finally threw the cat code at over 65k miles. It's currently at the dealer awaiting a sensor that was broken during removal. At least I can say that they didn't try to BS me and had the cat in stock. They started work right away but didn't have the sensor to replace the broken one.
