The cat install might be tricky because of what you describe, and for me the first install failed because one of the electrical connector plugs didn't seat fully and one of the pins was bent. I had to come back soon after the cat install (sigh). The good news is that the Enterprise rental I got that time was a 2015 JGC, so at least I had another JGC. I even transfered the dog's crate and all my gear from the cargo area. I moved into that JGC, had it for over a week as they had trouble isolating the cause to that failed pin connection.

And, a minivan with no XM? You ain't pickin' up no ho with that sled, my friend. You have to work on your method.
Now that's funny. You made me laugh.

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

Update. Got the Jeep back today. They replaced the upper cat converter where it attaches to the manifold?, the SCR, and 2 sensors. The sensors and upper cat broke when replacing the SCR. Apparently, this happens enough that the upper cat is on back order until April 19th or so. Just by luck, it showed up yesterday. I know that there is talk about an updated cat that is being installed however the mechanic said it's the same part. So after all this, I asked him if he though this would fix the problem. He said No! We'll see....

Happy for you u got your Jeep back! Well, if changing the Cat is not the answer, maybe this is why Chrysler is not in a hurry to recall them!

This is not true. If you look at the "incorrect def" thread, you'll see that there is the original CAT part # ending in AA and the replacement CAT part # ending in AB.

I haven't heard of anyone with the revised CAT having continued CAT related issues.

My new Cat part# is 68243268-AB. I knew about a new cat, that's why I asked. He said the part was the same. I only know what the mechanic told me. Maybe the reason for the different part # could be that it is a replacement and not an originally installed unit. Who knows? If they are genuinely different, I sure would like to know the difference. I added up the cost of all the parts they used for the job from Quirk Parts and it came to $3500. Don't know how much time they spent on it. I wonder how much money is built into the price of building a new car that is "reserved" for any warranty work.

I'm going to guess it's an updated part that likely has a different failure threshold. I find that mechs aren't necessarily going to know the engineering and insides of a specific part.

Again, all the folks I've read about with the revised CAT have not had the CAT issue again. Let's keep our fingers crossed!

Re: MIL & P20EE again & again & again...

Got my second P20EE code after 1,5K Miles of the REV E update, so technically I should be on the B/O list for a new CAT...

Congrats! You knew you wouldn't be too far behind.

At least you also know that you'er headed for the updated CAT. And that it'll all be done from there on...

You're right. This is pathetic. You were actually excited that your 55k JGC finally "broke" enough that you now get on the list to wait 1-2 months(I waited 1-1/2 months) for a part that shouldn't have failed in the first place. Hopefully when they replace yours, they wont break the upper cat and additional sensors like mine that kept the truck in the shop an additional week. Just think about it, it's like the economy, this is the new "norm" that we've all been trained to accept. If you can't Lemon it, you're screwed.

Yeah but when I bought mine I knew it was an early model release and some of the bugs weren't worked out yet. So far since my cat fix I have maybe 2,000 trouble-free miles (P20EE).

Where else can you get a rig that's so off-road capable, can tow well, and is this luxurious and yet will get 34 MPG at 65 MPH, and 45 MPG at 55 MPH?? Alright who drives 55, but still it can achieve that!

Think of the overall picture, guys, not the fly in the ointment. I still love my JGC.
