Mileage drop

I just got my ED last week but in about 600 highway miles I was getting 27-28 mpg. I just filled up and went on a two hour down and two hour back trip. Right after I reset the mileage I seemed to be getting low 20's and also my battery charge voltage was down to 13.3 volts. I thought maybe a regen was happening but it never really changed. I ended up getting about 25 mpg for the whole four hour trip. Is it common to get 2 or 3 mpg difference just with different fuel?

Re: Mileage drop

Is your vehicle brand new? If yes, I would expect your mileage to improve. Charging drops on long trips when battery is fully charged to preserve it.

Re: Mileage drop

Winter blend diesel too can be a culprit as it prevents gelling of fuel at the expense of energy density.

Re: Mileage drop

Brand can make a difference IE: biodiesel %. Driving 5500 miles in Canada this fall I found a big difference in brands. Ultramar was the worst. Then came Irving. The best was Petro-Canada which gave me 3 to 4 MPG better than the others. Yes winter blend will make a difference also.

Yeah that's what I thought. Pretty drastic change from one tank to the next.

Thanks
