My passenger window cracked right down the middle!

Drove from Cincinnati to Detroit tonight and when I arrive my wife points at her window and says "what the heck is this?". The outer pane of glass split right up the middle! It's a deep split too... I am furious... I am supposed to be showing off my car to my parents and buddies right now and instead I'm furious and don't want to even look at the thing! Haha

More to come in the morning when I can see it in the daylight. There may be a TINY rock chip on it but how does a rock chip hit that side window anyway let alone hard enough to split the freaking thing?

Re: My passenger window cracked right down the middle!

I don't know but it is laminated glass...

So I guess it can split the same way a windshield does?

Honestly, I'm at the point where who knows what happens to our Jeeps while we are asleep and/or not around...

If there is a "point of impact", you could have been shot from a BB gun or something from the side of the road. Yes, there are people out there that do stuff like that....

Not sure if you can see it but it is a hairline crack wavy and all down into the door of the window. Happened at night and it's snowy today so still haven't been able to really check it out good.

That is super unfortunate. The first day we brought our Tahoe home the rear windshield just shattered in the driveway. This was like 6 months ago, it was warrantied but only due to a connection at the dealer through my dad. All I can say is, I feel your pain and good luck.

Interesting, let us know if there is an impact point when you check it out thoroughly.

Second crack appeared overnight and the car wasn't even driven...

Re: My passenger window cracked right down the middle!

I Googled "Jeep side window cracks" and found a thread on another 'unnamed' forum where 2 people described your exact situation. Both had their windows replaced under warranty.

Re: My passenger window cracked right down the middle!

Side window cracks are unusual. Our former Toy Avalon ate 3 windshields in 3 months all unknown. Impact marks not showing anyplace. After the 3rd windshield no problems over the next 10 years.
Two cracks like that wow never seen that.
Hope the replacement takes care of the issue...
