New 2015 in the shop with 500 miles

Hello fellow members long story short traded in my 2012 GC Hemi for a 2015 GC limited diesel build date 12/14. Within 400 miles my MIL light came on in the first 3 the days of owning her. Also truck lunged and stalled with OBD coming on reading low voltage. Took it back to my dealer they diagnosed it needing new DEF tank and pump. Took three days for the dealer to consult with Chrysler to figure out what was wrong with it so far it's been in the shop for eight days now looks like it'll be another week before I see her back in my possession. Also it peers dealers are getting away from having demos they have a partnership with Hertz Rent-A-Car and provided me a cobalt blue Chevy Spark, go check that car out it's a complete joke and I feel totally unsafe in it and the wife refuses to drive it or be seen in it. It seems the Bosh pump issue has not been resolved. Will keep everyone posted once I get her back with complete parts replaced.

Or they just filled it with gasoline instead of diesel during the PDI.

In this case they should change all fuel injectors too.

I think that OP didn't consider the possibility of the dealer misfueling. It happen to me on my 08crd. You would think they would notice the green around the fill.

If it was filled with gas you'd know in about 5 miles, and not all that great for the pump either...

Not true at all. When the dealer put gas in mine, it took about 50 miles for the truck to show any signs. Take it from someone who actually had it happen. There is quite a bit of fuel in the fuel filter and it is also diluted by residual in the tank. I believe they leave the factory with about 5 gallons.

OP: did you fuel the vehicle yet? If not, I would request the fuel be tested and then shortly afterwards demand a replacement vehicle.

Fuel pumps around constantly, gas would be in the diesel filter in minutes.

Yes, also known as a return fuel system (as opposed to returnless). It does not have a 1/1 return value from the fuel filter back to the tank. There is some mixing, but it is not complete replacement. We don't know the specifics, we don't know how much diesel was in the tank in addition to the 5 gallons and we don't how much fuel was added by the dealer.

What I do know, is that I have had a dealer add gasoline to a brand new diesel vehicle and that it exhibited the same symptoms.

Re: New 2015 in the shop with 500 miles

Hello everyone okay finally got my truck back today which was in the shop for the past 3 weeks. According to the tech, 3 codes were found in the PCM.

P20FD-00, Active reductant pump 2 control circuit high.
P208D-00, pending reductant pump A control circuit high.
P1E0C-00, stored empty fuel tank.

Apparently they tried to order a replacement pump for the DEF tank but was on backorder so they ordered a complete assembly which is a new tank and I believe two pumps direct from the manufacturer as Chrysler was completely out of stock. I actually got Chrysler involved by calling their customer service department notifying them of the situation and upon doing so they were able to expedite the parts overnight to my local dealer otherwise I would've waited possibly another two weeks to get my truck back. Dealer had it all washed and cleaned but before I left I decided to double check the DEF fluid level and would you believe the tech only filled it halfway and even wrote that he added 4 gallons in his notes. How does someone replace a tank on a brand new vehicle and not completely fill it up......unreal. Went back into the dealership and told the service advisor the situation he laughed and went to the parts department and grabbed a case where he then proceeded to add 4 gallons himself. Good news is the truck has been driven 50 miles and so far so good, I guess time will tell if this was a good decision.

Glad you got your Jeep back, you didn't like your spark? I love mine, I got the stick one though, loads of fun and great in the city. The lift off oversteer when pressing on is a hoot too.

Sounds like they drained the fuel tank for some reason.

Also, they did you a favor by not filling def all the way. Don't want an almost full Def tank going stale in the summer months. Best to fill it halfway every 5000 miles then once every 10k.
