Sounds like some of you have been going for miles....without resolution
This is an old-ish thread. Go to your dealer and get the latest flash. Sometimes, but not usually that fixes things. If MIL comes on again, return to dealer and they'll order a new cat. That has solved the problem for everyone (or nearly everyone) so far. For most this is an annoyance and not a big deal.

I suppose it's too much to expect for people to search the forum for their codes and find the literally *hundreds* of posts regarding P20EE, but it always surprises me when people don't even notice that their code is in the *thread title* of one or more threads in the first page of the forum.

Good luck!

Re: New ECM/TCM flash coming out

Took her for an oil change and flashing 18-023-15a. My agent called back and told me that the flash prompted them to download and flash a required new TCM update. I'll report later if this has made any of our long anticipated changes to shift patterns.

Some seam to think that people don't search threads yet the problem is a lot of threads do not stay on topic and you need to spend countless hours trying to find pertinent intel. Thanks for taking the time to reply and avoiding the sarcastic comments.

As predicted and identified by most in here, I took the vehicle in, they claimed there was only 1 code that came up (P20EE) and they did a PCM update. That was last Thursday and low and behold, it came on once again today! I scanned it once more and now its the P0171. Once again, cannot get in for another week!

I will now have only gone twice for this and am getting frustrated. THOSE THAT HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS FOR MONTHS MUST BE GETTING READY TO SNAP!

I'd try giving them a call and see if they'll order parts w/o another trip to dealer. Based on the P0171 code you're probably going to need an O2 sensor AND a cat. That code is "system too lean" or something similar. Generally that's more because the sensor is bad, especially when it happens with p20ee.

The way your dealer works it's sounding like at least 2 MORE trips are in order. Once for them to tell you that you need a cat and O2 sensor, and once more to install them. Hopefully they don't mess up the install requiring yet another visit! Or worse, they order the cat now only to find they need the O2 sensor later. Push hard for them to order both right away.

Hang in there, things are going as expected, though that doesn't make dealer trips any easier or more "fun". At least you'll go in knowing what SHOULD happen instead of flying blind.

Can anyone who has had the P0171 code chime in? Am I right about the O2 sensor?

Re: New ECM/TCM flash coming out

I have had the P0171 code for about 600 miles now, cylinder 4 misfire. Dealer says they are waiting on parts to replace the cylinder head with a new redesign to prevent the valves fro sticking. They said nothing about the O2 sensor, but I don't have any other codes to go with it. Engine runs very rough at times, feels like driving on washboard roads. Other times, everything is good.

Thank you.

Your P0171 code sounds "real" - like the O2 sensor is fine and there really is some other problem. I'm GUESSING (but admittedly only guessing) based on my reading mostly on the RAM 1500 Ecodiesel forum that MrConn's error isn't "real" since it was preceded by the P20EE code and because he reports no drivability or engine issues.

His may be the result of a bad sensor giving a bad error. Though I haven't heard a lot of P0171 errors getting thrown, so not a very large sample size.

Keep us posted MrConn...hope it's just a bad sensor.

Re: New ECM/TCM flash coming out

Well the latest service call (07/16/15) was not for the P0171 code rather p2299 code. I am quite positive I am not done with the O2 sensor issue but this p2299 is a new one! Pretty sure I have never driven with both feet or that I pressed both the gas and brake pedal at the same time.

I will be back once I have the next MIL come up, which is probably in the not so distant future.
