I don't get why its been so difficult to get the shifting algorithms down for this and the V6 (yes I realize they are variations of one another).

Because chrysler has never made a low rpm high tq adaptive shift trans before.

Yeah i agree i dont understand why its taking so long to get the shifting worked out on these trans. The v8s are fine for the most part but several of the v6 gas people are going crazy with shift issues and diesels have their own issues. Sounds like they really underestimated the time and resources that should have been put into shaking out the software on the integration of these 8spds. A year and a half after release still v6 issues and a year after diesel release still issues. Certainly want them to take the time to get it right but for driveability issues like this you would think there would have been more priority on it. Hope the next flash update in few weeks helps you guys.

HOWEVER, I did experience ONE noticeable "bump" on the 2 to 1 downshift last week.

So do I have my own "sensors" tuned for any issues now...you betcha!!

I did not take it in for the first TCM reflash, as it continues to run smoothly and change gears well. However, if the latest reflashes work well, no one posts issues and it appears to have solved all the issues, I may just take it in.......just keeping status quo at the moment!

You're not necessarily out of the woods yet. I had no shifting issues whatsoever until a week before I was scheduled to go on a 3,000 mile road trip, great!! I had just over 11K miles on the car at that point and started to experience the dreaded shudder. I managed to get my car into the shop the day before leaving for vacation and had them apply TSB 21-026-14. I picked the car up at lunch, jumped on the freeway on-ramp a block from the dealer, and the car immediately started to shudder, so much for that. At any rate I wasn't going to let it interfere with my road trip so I went as planned. I towed a small camping trailer from SoCal up to Montana and back putting on just over 3K miles in 17 days. While I was on the trip there were often times when I didn't have the trailer in tow. Long story short, never happened again during the trip nor has it returned since I've been home...weird. However that's not to say it will never return. I sure hope they come up with a permanent fix for everyone's sake.

more evidence that driving style with the adaptive learning may cause the shudder to come and go. I wish there was a way to make it stop adapting.

Yep, its one of those things where it sounds great in theory, not always great in execution - sometimes you just want dumb old technology that doesn't "think"

Allison continues to always learn and adapt. When you would sneak up on it shifts could be a little harsh. A Built Allison was better about this than a stock Allison.

Re: New ECM/TCM flash coming out

No doubt that a performance built transmission is more durable. I have a built 4R100 in my Excursion and the builder guarantees it for life...no matter what I do to my motor or truck. He probably knows my 7.3L Powersmoke will never make 1800 ft-lbs....although he has a 7.3L running 10's in the 1/4 with an identically built transmission. BTS builds one heckuva unit.

My point was the aftermarket tends to fix some of these issues better than the OEM.
