Re: New ECM/TCM flash coming out

Apparently Chrysler had not approved CAT replacement yet for my truck, engineering has not returned call to dealership to confirm/approve diagnosis.
So Called Chrysler customer service and logged incident again for this issue & hope CEL doe not turn into limp mode...

bummer!

Re: New ECM/TCM flash coming out

Has anyone had 18-018-14 REV. D applied with a logged P20EE, and if so, did the code reappear?

I had the update done last week for the P2BA9 code, on Saturday my check engine light returned but I haven't checked the code yet. Hopefully not going to be a huge ordeal...

Someone pointed out that the notes on the TSB indicates a current P20EE may require additional parts (Cat, DEF pump and/or Injector). Almost makes me think the TSB addresses issues that CAUSE the failures.

Re: New ECM/TCM flash coming out

I went back and looked at the TSB, looks like the same comment applies to the P2BA9 code so I'm guessing there was something in addition to the flash that my dealer needed to do...

Right. I read it the same way. My dealer has a CAT/etc. parts ordered, was going to get the TSB applied, but will wait for the parts to arrive...whenever that happens.

Thanks.

I'd be interested in knowing if the Cat you get is the redesigned unit. Maybe your dealer would know. I'm on Cat #2 and it's the original replacement. I really need to get the latest TSB applied in case it has corrections that prevent failure.

Re: New ECM/TCM flash coming out

I informed my dealer of the supposed redesigned CAT, but they were unaware if the one they ordered and is "backordered" is said CAT. One can only hope. It was mentioned that the current/old style of CAT was not being allowed, per se, to be ordered/sent to dealers.

I made it two starts before the P20EE returned after the D version TSB. It's back at the dealer now.

Re: New ECM/TCM flash coming out

I have a '14 GC diesel that has spent more time at the dealer than with me over the past 3 months. First problem was debris in the fuel system (I'm sure I didn't put it there, so it must have been built that way). After replacing the entire fuel system other than the tank, I have now had problems with the transmission (ZF 8sp) shuddering on the freeway. More that one PCM/TCM flash has failed to fix this issue. At my last dealer visit I was told that new exhaust sensors were needed, but not available until December, so I would be called when they arrive. Now the CEL has been on for a week and the PCM is spitting codes P0171 and P0133, lean fuel condition and slow O2 circuit response, both seemingly related to the exhaust sensors. All of this tells me this vehicle was not ready for release to the consumer. I am lawyering up for a lemon law fight.

I don't think the TSB solves an existing P20EE. I've been saying that something is killing our Catalytic Converters and I believe it is addressed in the TSB rev D. Once a P20EE code is thrown, for most of us the damage is done and a new Cat is eventually needed. A redesigned Cat is supposedly coming.

The "good" news is that, if the DEF system is functioning, a bad Cat doesn't invoke a no start countdown and isn't harmful to drive.

The "good" news on waiting quite a long time for my CRD to be built and delivered to see what Jeep's response is to this. For the first time since ordering I am now starting to waiver a bit. Actually am watching the planned US delivery date for the new 2015 Touareg. It is very disappointing.
