Re: new to forum with 2014 GC eco diesel that has an issue

Our shuddering problem on our JGC EcoDiesel is apparently due to bad injectors. New parts are on order. ETA yet to be determined. 800+ miles on the odo.

Re: new to forum with 2014 GC eco diesel that has an issue

About 2 weeks in the shop now. I called today and the service manager (who has been great btw) told me Chrysler would like more data from my vehicle.

To make matters worse, i gave back the loaner and they had Chrysler( through enterprise) put me in a minivan. Not feeling very hip and the moment. Hopefully ill have some news on Monday.

Has anyone else with this problem, who has been in for service had the problems resolved?

As I said earlier, our shuddering was caused by a misfire. My symptoms were identical to yours.

Our dealer did a injector flow test and determined that the flow was out of spec for cylinder 6. They replaced the injector. Drove it for about 50 miles today and no issues so far - shuddering gone. Our shuddering persisted for weeks before the CEL came one.

Re: new to forum with 2014 GC eco diesel that has an issue

Hello all,

I also have "fishbites" it appears.

I have 6500 miles on mine since 11/17/13.

The first time it happened probably about 1200 miles ago, it almost felt like I had bad fuel because it seemed to hesitate under acceleration.

When I got home I drained the water separator to make sure it was not full because of winter fuel, but I only got maybe 1 ounce of crud out of the separator.

This of course did not fix the problem as I STILL HAVE the as I know now "fish bite" issue.

I will take mine to the dealer this coming week just so it can be reported as a problem.

I will be watching the thread to see those of you have parts on the way actually find the solution to the problem.

Good luck to us all who are having the problem and hope Jeep can find the fix with out major parts swap by trial and error and actually come up with 1 solution across the product line.

MAJOR2000

Its interesting that they claim bad injector. I know ford had a problem with their common rail system, the last 2 injectors closest to the fire wall were being starved for fuel because they where the last 2 injectors on the rail. They said it was because the fuel was so hot by the time it reached those injectors the fuel was boiling and did not provide enough lubricity for the injectors and they melted from excessive heat. I know this because several of my friends are die hard power stoke owners most were stock and only a few were tuned.

Its pretty bad when your local power stroke dealer keeps complete engines in stock!!! haha

There is a TSB out for the shudder for 5.7l 2012 & 2013. You can read it at WK2Jeeps.com. It addresses the fish bitting. Do you all think this could apply to us?

Re: new to forum with 2014 GC eco diesel that has an issue

Quick update. My jeep is still in the shop, its going on 3 weeks now. I guess the regional from Chrysler Tech was looking at it monday and they think they have some ideas of how to attack my problem.

The GM and service manager have been amazing to deal with. They put me in a SRT for the time being, which was going above and beyond.

Ill keep you all posted if they figure it out.

Looks like I'm getting a new tranny. 3-4 days to get it in, another day to install it.

Should i be comfortable with this? factory installed vs dealer installed?? any advice would be appreciated.

also, should i contact Chrysler and see if they would throw in a warranty on the transmission?

You should be fine with this and talk to your service manager about the warranty on the new tranny. These trannies are very stout and are available in everything from Bentleys to VWs...
it's a damn good transmission.... it's Chrysler/Jeep programming the worries me
