They're Union, so it would be hard to fire him I'm sure. I assume he's getting a good ass-chewing, but I also assumed it would only take a day, not 5, for this to get fixed.

The service technician I've been talking to keeps promising that he'll get the service manager to compensate me somehow. 2 days and still no word on what "compensation" I'll be getting.

2,000 miles after this TSB fix and the engine light is back on. Not sure what the issue is this time, but this is getting really old. Anyone else have this issue?

Re: New TSB 009-006-15

I have about 6500 miles on my new heads and when it runs, it runs well. The shuddering hasn't returned since the repair. But now I am getting a different issue. Not sure if it is related or not, but the vehicle is struggling to start. Sometimes it doesn't start at all. Sometimes it starts on the 4th or 5th time, but it really struggles. You can hear it barely turning over. I am having other power issues as well, battery light is nearly always on, the car shuts off systems like audio and AC when the power gets too low. No MILs or anything so no idea what is going on. I've taken it to two dealerships that say nothing is wrong with it. I am not sure if I have a bad alternator or TIPM unrelated to the engine heads, or if the repair was done improperly and they are going to have to dig into it to figure out what step they missed. Here's a video I posted on their Facebook page of it not starting Friday night.

I've already been to the dealer 16 times to the dealer in 26 months, so I emailed Jeep's CEO over the weekend to diplomatically say I have reached the end of my rope. I got a call back the next day. They want me to return to a dealership and are going to get regional techs and engineers involved to take a look first before they discuss any sort of compensation. I already got 2 months payments back and a lifetime Maxcare warranty for them taking 43 days to do the heads (breaking other parts in the process) and 4 trips to do the SCR replacement. I am not sure what other compensation I would accept at this point short of a new Jeep. They really just need to buy the thing off me. I barely missed being lemon law eligible last year, so I'm hoping this latest issue is what finally gets this thing off my hands.

Sorry to hear that. At least you got 2 months of payments and lifetime Maxcare. I was only offered 2 years of free oil changes which I reluctantly took. I'm not sure I want to keep this vehicle for another 2 months let alone 2 years. I just had the new catalytic converter installed in mid-December and this engine light is due to a bad cat sensor. I'm not surprised that this is happening again. If this takes more than 2 days to fix, I'll be emailing the CEO also. In the last 6 months, mine has been in the shop 6 times for a total of approximately 30 days and that was just for the new cat and new heads. In the 29 months I've had the Jeep it's been damaged by a dealership which took 3 trips to their other location (50 miles away) to get fixed properly, I've been lied to numerous times about "work" that was done on it, I've been to 3 different dealerships for all of this and have been treated like crap by all of them.

I want to hate this vehicle and move on, but I can't find anything I like as much and get the most upgrades for the money, plus the MPG on the diesel cannot be matched by anything I've found in that size.

Re: New TSB 009-006-15

Yeah, I hear you. I really loathe this vehicle, but the model itself is still the best one out there in its class. I love how refined it is for cramped urban driving, yet I can take it on the trail on the weekends and get dirty. The 30 + mpg is also unbeatable in this segment. On paper, its the perfect vehicle. In my experience however, I am ready to push it off a cliff.

Perhaps I just got a bad one and I am meant to suffer. Mine was built in December 2013, so one of the first. The lifetime warranty I got 6 months ago was pushing me towards keeping it at the end of my lease in January 2017 (and soak them for everything they are worth by keeping this thing on the road for the next 20 years), but the practicality of it not being reliable and taking it in all the time is too much just to spite them.

I just don't think many dealerships are trained and equipped to work on these diesels. When they run great they are in the shop once a year or so to change the oil and thats it. But when they have a problem, they don't know what to do. Even if they fix this latest issue, I'm probably going to push them hard to buy it back and get something else. It's just not worth the hassle. We only have this one vehicle and not having it be reliable is pretty much a disqualifier. I'm also paranoid of my wife getting stranded when it won't start and I have no way to get to her, much less something serious happening while she's driving it. These are things I shouldn't have to worry about after dropping $50k for a car.

Mine seems low right now since I got mine back 2 weeks ago. I'm hoping it's just the winter blend in the fuel, but it still seems low even for that.

Mpg is about the same and actually getting a little better since I took over driving it from wife who got a new car. She has a lead foot and is a fast braker. Went from 23 avg to 27. 32 on long trips.

Re: New TSB 009-006-15

I have been gradually getting more confident about the repairs and loving the cheap diesel fuel. Cheaper than even regular right now. But reading about Eaglescout's new issues after 6500 miles is not what I want to see posted.

Looks like you need a new battery eaglescout1987. It's under warranty.

I too was given the lifetime warranty for my troubles. Mine was in the shop for 3 months of the last 4 months that I owned the Jeep. It kept going into the shop after I got the warranty, so eventually I decided the lifetime warranty was no good. What good is the lifetime warranty if you never get to drive your own Jeep. I was always stuck in a rental. After 3 months of many e-mails, phone calls, and lots of frustration, I finally was able to convince Jeep to replace mine. They did step up to the plate in the end, but it was a long road. Just picked up the new Jeep a week ago. Finally have piece of mind.

Re: New TSB 009-006-15

Well, hopefully this news comes as a relief for some of you. Turns out my issues related to the Jeep starting and everything was due to a corroded alternator ground strap. I guess I didn't wash all the salt off or something. It was causing all sorts of issues apparently. Replaced it and now my battery is at 14v rock solid and have had no problems starting (though it has only been 2 days). I'm hoping this is the last of my issues, but my lifetime warranty is really making me sleep better at night. After 6500 miles, it may be time for a oil analysis with the new heads as well. I'd be interested to see the results, especially since I noticed my coolant level was a little under the Min line and I know it was refilled when they did the heads...
