Re: New TSB 009-006-15

So it appears that, at just under 20k miles, we're the latest victims of TSB 009-006-15. I was lucky enough to get it to the dealership where it died in the dealer's service drive. No codes. No CEL. Just very rough idle and a sound similar to a bolt in a blender. It was awful.

I'm not thrilled with the idea of
"Open engine surgery" on a 2 year old vehicle with less than 20k miles.

Has anyone had any luck pressing FCA into just swapping out the whole motor for a 2016 version? While I'm sure it's more expensive than the head swap, it is definitely cheaper than a buy back. I live in SoCal and I'm not exactly sure how much bite out lemon laws have, but given the sheer number of malfunctioning MY14 diesels there seems to be, you would think that we'd get some attention from corporate.

I'd love to hear the experience of anyone who's been down this road. Especially if you live in CA.

Hey mods this thread needs to be locked. No offense to the people posting but this is not "a new TSB".

Well, it's new to me. Where should we post on this topic if it's a current condition?

Keep posting! I'm at 33,000 on an early build. Still trying to decide, if I want to jump ship on a ride that I love! No problems here but it's not my daily driver.

I've certainly debated pursuing this TSB, but I'm leery of the procedure. Many dealerships are marginal in terms of experience and competence dealing with these diesel engines. One would hope that the fix doesn't result in new problems of its own... especially given how long it takes to perform.

I had a timing gasket leak repaired about a year ago and that went from "a two day job" to requiring almost a week (made more painful due to having to drive a shitbox rental Chrysler minivan for the period). Fortunately, there haven't been any further issues with the timing gasket but when I consider this TSB I wonder if it's worth it.

I've already talked with FCA and I told them I'm not happy and even "asked" them if they even have any1 competent enough to do this job lol. If I'm not happy , they said they would pro rate the max care I bought , get me trade assistants for newer jeep and free max care for the new ride. Or life time for the current jeep. We'll see.

Dom who did you talk to? My rig's been in almost a week and they don't have a diagnosis yet. I simply will NOT accept a rebuilt motor at this stage of the game.

I have been speaking with my customer care rep name Shilo. Really nice lady. Too nice if u ask me lol. Also this all got started because of an alignment issue and me complaining a lot. Then the whole scr and cat replacement.

They also had some lady come in to dealer specifically for my case. I think she was regional big wig. Sat her down with the finance manager and service manager at my local dealer.
