I'm going in for this next week as I literally, just this morning, started experiencing the "2 - 1 downshift rear-ending sensation" for the first time in 8000+ miles. "Bump" is too euphemistic a term: the entire vehicle lurches forward. This can't be good for the mounts or transmission. It does it every time... it went from "never" to "always" with a flick of a switch. That definitely seems like a software problem to me.
Glad there's a flash, even though it was only released two days ago and I wonder what would have happened if I had this crop up a month ago.
I got the day it released. All fishbites, shudder, and thumps are gone. It does bump on downshift when deceling but in a manner you would expect. Very smooth. There seems to be less lugging in ECO mode as well. The difference between Sport and ECO is not as drastic at partial throttle.
I only picked my new JGC last week a day before this release. Is this update added as part of the normal scheduled servicing or would it be on request only?
I haven't experienced any issues as yet so would you guys advise that I attend the dealership proactively to have this update applied.
I just got back from the dealer. I suggest that anyone going to the dealer have the TSB numbers on hand that they want to have applied. Scratch that, I'm taking printouts of the TSBs when I go back.
Despite my textbook description of the issue, it appears they applied the TSB for the "rolling reverse to drive shift quality" and notTSB 21-026-14 "Transmission Shift Enhancements".
Obviously, I wanted the other TSB done as well, but now I am going to have to try to schedule another service appointment. I should have checked the actual TSBs on the invoice rather than simply presuming the dealer would be up to date and apply the correct patches.
If you want something done right... oh wait, I *can't* do this myself.
I agree. I have only had one TSB flash applied and when I did I handed the service manager a print out of the TSB. Unfortunately the invoice only says they applied a flash and doesn't confirm that they applied the correct flash. I recommend we make sure the invoice says exactly which TSB was applied.
I'm about to hit 38k miles on my 2014 Limited Turbodiesel therefore I am officially out of warranty. Does the shifting enhancement TSB apply to the engine and powertrain warranty?
In other words if I take my truck back to the dealer just for update will I have to pay for it?
Had the TSB flashed today and the 70 mile trip back home was noticeably smoother shifting during acceleration and deceleration. Of course I may just be imagining the change...shift happens
