Re: New WK2 Hood Light Mount Brackets from Shield Productions

Count me as skeptical, for long-term viability. You mount a light on the end of that bracket, mount the bracket to the hood, and that's a LOT of vibrating force, over years and many miles, shaking on the hood. And how about vibration from opening & closing the hood?

I suspect you might see a bent hood after some time. Symmetrical bends, one at each bracket, but bends nonetheless.

Shield, how is that skepticism addressed?

I like the concept, though, specifically having aux lights inside the engine compartment.

It's connected to the back of the hood bracket that connects to the hood which is a hard point. It's made out of light weight aluminum. Information coming in from our customers is; they love it, very well made, fitment is perfect, no vibration even at 80mph, the aluminum bracket is very light weight but in 3/16th makes for a very strong bracket.

You may have issues if you put a 20lb brick on it though but I believe most people have common sense not to do that.
Best regards, Rex

Now that I understand what your product is, well, I was interested in it...

... until you decided to include that last statement.

You just lost me as a customer, forever, for any of your current or future products.

I vote with my wallet, and I don't support companies that don't treat customers nicely.

How's that for some common sense for you?

I'm sorry, but for me that looks just plain goofy. What makes it worse is that the lights aren't even level.

Echo. He only answered your question in the same way you were ripping his product apart. But you most likely would not have purchased the product anyway.

I find that in most cases, they can dish it out, but when it comes time to getting it back......They wont have any of that...... and yes i agree "he most likely would not have purchased it anyway"

I'm sure Rex doesn't mind, as far as i can find he is the only one making them........ at the moment

wouldnt have thought rex's comment would have ruffled feathers, but everyone is different. i really really like the idea, but i have to agree it would be nice if they were level... i also dont think the price is too high if someone were to buy it, try it, and if they didnt think it was their cup of tea, it wouldnt be a big money item to regret. i will keep looking for products from rex... the idea is there for sure, now fine tuning it; making it level and parallel to the pavement. keep up the good work and r&d!

Hi, I think it would look better with a led light bar. Does anybody have roof brackets to fit a light bar to a wk2.
