Re: oil catch can

Update: installed the BMW catch can and so far, NO PENDING CODES. I took a ride today and put on about 25 miles and the pending code that was listed yesterday was cleared automatically by the ECU. Usually after I forced cleared the CEL (with old/standard can) I would get the pending code appearing after 5-10 miles and never had the pending code clear itself. Another thing I noticed was boost pressure has returned to normal. With the old can I lost about 1-2psi. With the BMW can I can hold just over 20psi of boost with no issue. I'm not sure if the old can affected the MAP sensor in any way but the BMW can seems to have much better flow and larger ports that the car doesn't notice. I'm not going to give it an absolute A+ at this point, but it definitely is looking like its the answer we all have been looking for. I'll report back in a few days.

There are a few different BMW cans, when you report back, can you link us to the one that is in your GC?

Re: oil catch can

Thanks for the updates
Looks like I may have a pretty blue BT CC for sale, sadly very little oil on SS mesh
Great product just can't get it to work

What size and length tubing did you use?
Also, mind posting photos of end of tubes?

I used the 5/8" hose that I had around to connect to each port. It was a tight fit but works great. The ports are huge! Larger than I have seen on a catch can. I had the same experience with the standard can in regards to catching oil. I put 500 miles on and it didn't have much but water within the stainless mesh. The 20 or so miles I put on yesterday with the BMW can had 4-5 drops of oil condensed at the bottom of the separator already!

Re: oil catch can

Just ordered the BMW setup. Don't get my GC for a couple months, but I want to install it sooner than later to keep oil from mixing with soot from the EGR.

Now if someone would just make an ECU tune with an EGR delete I'll be good to go.

Re: oil catch can

The separators are all the same. The bracket is different, which isn't used (unless you're" creative) I purchased the N54 since it had the best price.

Going on three days and 80 miles with no Pending or active codes with this BMW separator. So far so good!

I removed these mods and put a plug in the turbo baffle and lost the P051B. Will see how long I can go before the P04DB comes back... I wonder if the Moroso can has a check valve or baffle that only allows flow one way? That would explain how his mod is working for him and not me...
Hope your new setup with the BMW catch can is still working.
think I found an answer to your question regarding Moroso having a check valve. Reviews on Amazon indicate it does not have a check valve, similar setup to the Billet Technology one. Stainless steel mesh between inlet and outlet.
