Oil change when towing an RV

Hi
We did 1000 miles towing with our GC and 6000 miles without towing. The oil change MIL still shows our GC has still 30% oil life left. Is this accurate. Should we change the oil earlier than MIL indicates?

Re: Oil change when towing an RV

Olivia,

I also tow with our JGC Diesel and I did have an oil analysis done at 8500 miles (when I did my second oil change at 15k). Blackstone said the oil was still OK BUT.....I've decided to do my regular oil changes at 7500 miles as this would coincide with the tire rotations.

I'm a bit anal and, for me, its cheap insurance. If this is your first oil change, I would go ahead and do it anyway at 6k. I did my first oil change at 6500 miles as this would be the factory fill and probably has a lot of metals in it. This is quite normal.

Re: Oil change when towing an RV

I did change the oil at 7500. We got a very deal from our local Jeep dealership. 4 oil changes in 2 years time frame for $180. I think it is a very good deal. So far we have put 17000 on our 2015 GC. We got the vehicle delivered just before Xmas 2014.
