Re: Oil consumption ?

I've had two oil changes since purchase and didn't add any oil between changes. It used a little before the first one but it was still in the cross-hatched area (in the safe zone). I have a little over 13K on the clock now with no issues. It seemed like it wasn't until after the second oil change (around 12K) until it is finally broke-in and I'm getting around 31 MPG on the highway just running the speed limit.

Re: Oil consumption ?

I've noticed mine needs a few min after being shut off to give a full reading. If I check it immediately it's low.

Re: Oil consumption ?

Best to check when it's cold after an overnight rest in the garage !

Remove dipstick, clean it and then replace it in the engine and remove once again. THAT second time will be your true oil level .

After recent 2500 mile trip and an oil change at 6560, still at full. ZERO oil useage at 9000 miles.

I think to get an accurate reading all you have to do is pop the dipstick a bit to release the seal and equalize the pressure, seat it all the way again, THEN pull it out and check level. As philbytx says, best time to do it is with a cold engine.

Mine hasn't used any oil...2800 miles and counting, it's still a baby.
