Remove dipstick, clean it and then replace it in the engine and remove once again. THAT second time will be your true oil level
After recent 2500 mile trip and an oil change at 6560, still at full. ZERO oil useage at 9000 miles.
I think to get an accurate reading all you have to do is pop the dipstick a bit to release the seal and equalize the pressure, seat it all the way again, THEN pull it out and check level. As philbytx says, best time to do it is with a cold engine.
Mine hasn't used any oil...2800 miles and counting, it's still a baby.
