Haha, you're funny. I thought it was hilarious when my 2014's oil life calculation dropped like a rock (fell from 8 to 2% in under 100 miles, resulting in an algorithmic oil lifespan of under 4200 miles/6 months). Incidentally, that oil lifespan algorithm bug is why all PCM updates for the 2014's are RRTs.

I definitely place more weight on UOA reports than the "sophisticated algorithm" when that was so thoroughly untested prior to release that it included severe bugs. I still follow the FCA requirements for warranty purposes, but data from my Jeep's UOA satisfies me that there's plenty of life left in the oil even at 12 months/10k miles of predominantly short-hop in-city driving.

Re: Oil life calculation has changed after recall

What ticks me off is that the mfg doesn't tell the dealers exactly what they are changing. The dealer has to go by the vague description on the recall paperwork which is useless. I would like to know exactly what they are changing and why. I am going to wait for a while before I change anymore programing. I think I can figure out if I am in park.

And I am defiantly going to go to 5w 40 oil.

Re: Oil life calculation has changed after recall

My Oil Monitor went nutso a couple of times after I did oil changes. The mileage to change dropped precipitously, showing after 10 miles 10 percent used LOL!

I just did another reset after I noticed it and it went back to normal.
