Re: One more time - Block Heater on CRD

Also, the drawing looks like the heater cord has attaching clamps. Are there equivalent attach points on the block or elsewhere underhood that guide routing of the cord?

I am taking delivery of my CRD in Houston - they don't see a lot of block heaters on vehicles they deliver from there. I would love for them to have some guidance regarding routing during the Pre-delivery PDI....

Yes, heater element is the same (p/n 56044738AA).

When installing the Power Cord for the Block Heater; follow the suggested routing and secure cord to the battery cable in several places. This will ensure cord does not chafe or damage other components:

I wish there was a site like this for the new 2014 Ram 1500 Ecodiesel - it opened up for ordering a few days back.

That truck is a beast inside with as many extras as the JGC Summit - just a gorgeous truck.

Re: One more time - Block Heater on CRD

Is this cord long enough to extend out to the front air dam, or do you need to pop the hood and plug it in with the connection being made underneath the hood?

Thanks

Re: One more time - Block Heater on CRD

the cord doesn't reach out to the front - you'll need to fit an extension. see post #20:

Engine Block Heater

If you don't want to do that though, and you don't want to open the hood every time you use it, you can run the cord out just under the hood near the passenger side windshield. The cord will go between the weather stripping and the hood but that's fine and it will stay there near the rear hood as it wont have too much more length..
