One more time - Block Heater on CRD

Living in Colorado, the block heater is important (4 is the high today).

So just to be clear:

Is it correct that the block heater element is built into every CRD, and that ordering the factory block heater option merely adds the cord at the factory?

Therefore, any CRD already on a dealer's lot without the engine block heater option, just needs to have the cord ordered and installed at the dealer to be the equivalent?

Thanks!

You may also need double-jointed elbows and wrists to get to where it connects to the block. Practice some origami and some Tetris while you're working on that six pack

Re: One more time - Block Heater on CRD

In my 'younger days', I had a Dodge with a police 440 with the 'log' exhaust manifolds. Had to remove the wheels to get access to the back spark plugs. That was the factory method. Sounds like block access has come full-circle!

Re: One more time - Block Heater on CRD

Engine block heater is down low and not easy to get to. It is a 3 prong plug and be sure the dealer orders the right one as the engine block heaters for the other engines are all 3 prong but they are different plugs...

Re: One more time - Block Heater on CRD

Is it still hard to get to from underneath? (As on a rack)
